We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Maintenance Engineer at our Columbia Facility.
In this position, a Principal Maintenance Engineer can expect to be responsible for the following:

  • Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex chemical, mechanical, or regulatory area problems. Provide direction and assume project management responsibility both inside and outside department lines.
  • Identify and recommend improvements where established technology components and methodology are inadequate. Seek new approaches to problems and new applications of existing engineering or scientific principles.
  • Evaluate the results of programs and prepare reports and recommendations based on these evaluations.
  • Prepare plans, schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for solving major engineering or scientific tasks identified by management. Initiate, direct, and perform work required to solve these tasks.
  • Maintain technical awareness in advancements of engineering technology in specific area or field.
  • Possesses, or has the ability to learn quickly, intimate knowledge of plant processes, products, and customer requirements with strong leadership skills focused on identifying solutions to complex problems. Demonstrated expertise in functional area or field.
  • design, maintain, troubleshoot and repair plant utilities equipment (boilers, chillers, compressors, scrubbers, HVAC, etc)
  • Direct and lead hourly crafts to correct and maintain Plant Utilities equipment
  • Lead projects to replace obsolete equipment
  • Write equipment reports
  • Write AR's and other associated documents

Job Requirements
The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering/related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of six years, but typically ten plus years, of applicable engineering experience is required.
  • Must demonstrate technical leadership skills and/or project management abilities to effectively define, implement and drive projects / tasks to successful completion.
  • Four year engineering degree-mechanical engineering
  • Extensive experience in plant utilities, such as air compressors, boilers, chillers, HVAC, scrubbers, etc.
  • Extensive troubleshooting experience
  • Ability to lead projects to replace obsolete equipment
