This is a key role within GE Power Digital working directly with customers to improve operations and deliver outcomes. It brings together industrial process knowledge, complex analytics and the power of software to optimize systems. It is an exciting opportunity at the intersection of several key areas of expertise in a growing GE Power community.

Essential Responsibilities

This individual will a) lead the deployment of GE's optimization
software solutions for coal-fired power plants delivering reduced emissions,
improved operating efficiency and reliability in real time, and b) participate
in designing and bringing new products to market, and creating the delivery
processes for these products. GE is the industry's leading provider of boiler
optimization systems, leveraging advanced artificial intelligence (AI)
technologies including neural networks.
As a Principal Engineer you will:
  • Participate in the establishment of technical objectives,
    work plans and schedules for projects
  • Manage customer relationship, maintain regular customer
    contact and manage expectations
  • Interface with third-party vendors for key tasks in the
    project plan
  • Work with the project team to execute key project
  • Develop/Deploy and Tune AI solutions for the customer
  • Conduct post installation benefits analysis
  • Achieve successful project closeout
  • Provide operator/engineer training on the use of the
  • Create software documentation (User Manual/User Guide)
  • Meet project deadlines and ensure quality
  • Issue regular progress reports to project team
  • Provide customer support as needed
  • Deliver solutions within the scope of the Maintenance
  • Work with the broader GE project team to coordinate efforts
  • Provide technical support to the commercial teams and sales
  • Provide feedback to the Product Line and Development teams
    for product improvement
  • Actively participate in early-stage product installations
  • Create efficient delivery processes for new products


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited
    university or college
  • 15+ years of experience in industrial systems related field

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Familiarity with computer hardware & Windows-based
  • Experience/familiarity with industrial process control
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to solve complex
    technical problems on an individual basis
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and mentor junior technical
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will

Desired Characteristics

  • Advanced degrees (ME, EE or ChE) from an accredited
    university or college
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills; ability to
    convey technical concepts to audiences ranging from technicians to plant
  • Operating experience in power plants, preferably on
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems, preferably
    those common in power plants (e.g. ABB/Bailey, Emerson, Invensys, etc.)
  • Familiarity with data communication protocols such as
  • Modeling experience with industrial systems
  • Experience applying neural networks and/or model-predictive
    control technologies to model/control/optimize industrial processes
