Job Overview:

CB&I currently has an opening for an experienced Civil Engineer (Geotechnical) for our Pittsburgh, PA location. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work independently and in a team setting within a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Produce land development, site design, storm water management and erosion and sediment control design, and grading plans of varying complexity for natural gas exploration and production infrastructure, and civil projects
  • Design and oversee geotechnical investigations and subsequent data compilation, analysis, and report preparation
  • Perform engineering calculations, prepare engineering drawings and complete environmental permit application documents
  • Advise oil and natural gas exploration and production clients on site development requirements with respect to construction storm water management and post-construction site design
  • Mentor junior staff in development of civil/geotechnical design skills
  • Maintain relationships with existing clients and solicit new project work as appropriate
  • Position will require visits to client facilities and undeveloped land
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS Degree and EIT certification in engineering with a minimum of 8-10 years' work experience in the geotechnical /civil engineering field, primarily in design of erosion and sediment controls
  • Engineering experience related storm water management, hydraulics, site development, geotechnical investigations
  • Knowledge of local and state environmental and site development permits and regulations
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in HydroCAD storm water modeling, slope stability models and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills to manage concurrent tasks and projects
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with multimedia environmental permitting and compliance management associated with oil and gas exploration, production and transmission
  • Active Professional Engineering license in Pennsylvania
  • Knowledge and understanding of PADEP Erosion and Sediment Control General Permit (ESCGP-2) and federal water quality programs for issuing permits and enforcing regulatory requirements
