Job Overview:

The Project Accountant will support CB&I's engineering group at a chemical processing facility. Works under minimal supervision to implement, troubleshoot project controls cost at multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Overall cost tracking and cost management of capital projects on client sites to include forecast support (budget, committed, actual, variances), goods receipts and requisition validation
  • Assessment of project control needs prior to a capital project execution.
  • Set up new projects in ERP to include budget per approved WBS;
  • Prepare scheduling and cost accounting reports.
  • Reconcile budget vs. actual variances on identified jobs, develop and compile status reports.
  • Coordinate data collection and reporting for capital engineering metrics.
  • Corresponds with vendor/internal contacts regarding invoicing.
  • Assist with development and implementation of project controls processes across all sites. Develop processes to manage costs that satisfy both client and CB&I internal requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in project controls field.
  • Understand engineering & construction cost control principles and accounting methods.
  • Conceptually understand project execution and the sequence of events necessary to complete a project.
  • Possesses strong financial and advanced analytical skills, ERP knowledge.
  • Must have initiative, self-organization and ability to tactfully deal with peers and management and communicate to all organization levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work, handle multiple/varied assignments and to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work within support teams.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to consistently meet multiple and often conflicting deadlines.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail and proven ability to produce results on strict deadlines and willingness to learn.

  • Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position due to governmental restrictions, US citizenship is required.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
  • Industrial experience a plus
  • High School - GED / associate or bachelor degree a plus
  • Working knowledge of SAP project module a plus.
