Job Overview:

An experienced engineer to provide written and verbal expert technical and operational consultation to commercial lenders, export credit agencies, equity investors, private and investor owned energy companies and government agencies. The candidate should be able to lead technical due diligence reviews and feasibility studies of a wide range of oil and gas industry projects. The candidate should be capable of undertaking construction monitoring of major capital projects both domestic and international.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Should have a working knowledge of LNG or upstream oil and gas production and transport.
  • Will lead technical due diligence activities on process industry projects including review of project design, execution plans, performance, and contracts.
  • Pursue business development activities in areas such as project technical due diligence, project feasibility services, and owner's engineering support services. Support other marketing and proposal development efforts.
  • Will lead a site assessment team as part of the due diligence activities
  • Must be comfortable with interviewing plant staff.
  • Will lead a team in performing reviews of the technical and/or commercial parameters and business drivers for major domestic and international capital projects in the oil and gas industry.
  • Analyze project technical, commercial and business information, assess risk, develop conclusions and participate in reviews and site inspections.
  • Prepare clear and concise written reports on assignments, and develop conclusions and present results to clients.
  • Work on assignments with tight deadlines and coordinate activities with other team members.
  • Perform check calculations, as appropriate. Review proposed PFDs, P&IDs, SLDs, UFD equipment specifications, and the like.
  • Supervise small project teams with minimal oversight and direction.
  • Additional business areas may be identified based on the candidate's work history, strengths, and interests.
  • Job-related travel (business trips usually requiring less than two-weeks) including domestic and international travel to project locations is an important part of the work. Travel may average 10 to 35 percent.
Basic Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree within an Engineering Discipline; MBA is beneficial but not required.
  • Fifteen to twenty years relevant professional experience in the Process Industry sector covering one or several of the following types of facilities:
    • Oil and gas production and treating (onshore and offshore).
    • Subsea pipelines.
    • Midstream pipelines and terminals.
    • Refinery processing and upgrading.
    • LNG liquefaction and/or regasification.
    • Alternative natural gas uses, GTL, methanol, fertilizers.
    • Petrochemical and commodity development.
  • The candidate's personal experience should cover several of the following for onshore and/or offshore projects:
    • Front End Engineering Design;
    • Detailed Engineering;
    • Process Simulation;
    • Hydraulic Analysis;
    • Cost Estimation and Cost Control;
    • Scheduling;
    • Contract Management
    • Construction;
    • Construction oversight;
    • Commissioning and Start-up;
    • Facility Operations and/or Maintenance;
    • Lenders' Due Diligence;
    • Mergers and Acquisitions;
    • Financial Modeling;
    • Market Analysis.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with an owner or major engineering or construction company in the oil, gas or refining industry
  • Prior experience of working for a consultancy in a management role is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal skills are critical
  • The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and an ability to interact with senior level customers and clients from different nationalities and cultures.
  • Ability to travel internationally and in the US (typically one-week assignments, once per month)
  • Proficient in basic computer programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • General knowledge of project execution and sound engineering judgment.
  • Responsible for the supervision of feasibility studies and projects
  • Comfortable supervising a team to execute assignments.
  • Willing to handle / participate in multiple projects and work to demanding client schedules
  • Able to communicate project issues to management, to coordinate activities with other team members, and to relay the results of the due diligence to the client or the client's advisors.
  • Able to identify project and client opportunities and initiate business development outreach.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is a pre-requisite.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or another major language is desirable but not required.
