Job Overview:

The Business Analyst will provide expert Information Management support, identify and understand project needs as well as research, implement, and support the appropriate technology solution(s). The Business Analyst's support is cross-functional and multi-disciplined. They will develop and document best practices and procedures to support the systems deployed, effectively communicate requirements to technical and non-technical staff as well as clients and need to be capable of overseeing and coordinating the activities of technical resources on a project. This positon will require an understanding of, and experience with: databases, web development, mobile data collection, dashboards and geospatial systems.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Performs client needs assessments and recommends custom or off-the shelf applications
  • Effectively communicates technical concepts to technical and non-technical project staff, professional operations staff, and clients
  • Identifies data sources, provides data flow diagrams and process documentation
  • Participates in the design of information systems; understands the integration between GIS and non-spatial enterprise systems
  • Tests new and modified applications
  • Performs advanced analysis of data using a variety of tools
  • Writes and revises program documentation, operations documentations and user guides
  • Acts as a key contributor in complex and critical environments. May lead teams or projects; shares expertise
  • Creates prototypes and proof of concepts for clients and junior team members
  • Anticipates customer needs and identifies solutions. Interprets internal and external business issues and manages cost for projects
  • Understands how business drivers affect and influence system design and responds accordingly
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 7-10+ years relevant experience required
  • Must be able to identify ways to improve our business and projects through the use of GIS and other data driven technologies (databases, mobile data collection, hardware, etc.)
  • Must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures
  • Relies on broad industry experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Performs a variety of complex tasks
  • Understands programming at an intermediate level
  • Fundamental knowledge of relational database theory is required
  • Fundamental knowledge of web services and implementation is also desired
  • Solid communication skills are necessary, both written and verbal
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional certifications are preferable (Microsoft, Sun, Oracle, etc.)
  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Product Suite preferred by not required

  • The Program Information Management team is responsible for providing Information Management (IMS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) service and product support to all of CB&I's business units and clients. The PIM team possesses a broad range of experience with geospatial technologies ranging from GIS, database design, customized geospatial software design, development, and integration.
