Job Overview:

The Litigation Support Manager (LSM) is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the discovery process for CB&I. The LSM works closely with IT and CB&I Legal to coordinate resources and identify sources and locations of relevant data, oversees the collection, hosting and processing of the data, provides administration of document review platforms and facilitates productions of the data. Other duties include training resources on review platforms, managing hardware assets related to the above, and assisting in the continued development and streamlining of CB&I's eDiscovery process.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Manage relationships with discovery vendors, including serving as expert liaison on behalf of CB&I to vendors, reviewers and outside counsel on issues related to discovery
  • Develop and manage project discovery plans for claims and litigation including all stages of the EDRM model
  • Manage collections of data, including coordination of email collection from servers and data from non-email sources, and provide guidance on collection protocols
  • Proposing and implementing data culling strategies, including data filtering and providing expert guidance on construction of search terms from both quality and syntax perspectives
  • Manage data processing
  • Manage productions and facilitate delivery of production output
  • Oversee the administration of in-house processing and hosting tools (serving as back-up system administrator for these tools)
  • Design, oversee and, as necessary, technically support document reviews, including data processing, exceptions management, coding layouts, database structures, and the supervision of the contract attorneys and outside counsel performing review
  • Assist with, or conduct, training for review platform users
  • Designing, managing, and performing quality control and tracking (in a standing tracking template or tool) on all aspects of the discovery process
  • Managing/developing a team (one to two analysts) capable of rapidly responding to the Company's discovery needs and developing/leveraging relationships with the Company's other departments (IT, Operations, etc.)
  • Create/refine CB&I discovery processes and documentation on an ongoing basis, including d eveloping case-over-case and year-over-year discovery spend analyses and budgeting
  • Provide continuous improvement of the eDiscovery process in order to reduce costs, ensure repeatable and scalable processes, and maintain defensibility
  • Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to effectively manage/lead others (lead from the front)
  • Management experience, including oversight of document reviewers
  • Relevant project management experience and ability to coordinate/integrate as part of multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate professional resources and communicate with third parties effectively
  • Ability to exercise sound independent judgement and work within a quickly changing environment
  • Ability to prioritize work and delegate effectively
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree; Juris Doctorate or related certification a plus
  • 7+ years of experience in litigation support in corporate law department, law firm, or legal service provider
  • Managed e-discovery on commercial cases with multi-terabyte productions
  • 5+ years of experience managing the implementation and administration of eDiscovery products (Relativity, Servient, etc.). Familiarity with distributive computing a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience with legal document review (designing, training, managing, or supporting document reviews)
  • Must have strong foundation in IT systems (Exchange, Domino, MS Office applications, network structures, etc.)
  • Established history of quality project deliverables produced under significant time constraints
  • Recommended Certifications: CEDS, OLP, RCA, PMP, CAP, CCIE, PMI, BRMI, CPEE, EMCDSA, CCP:DS, or additional certifications related to legal process and technology.
