Job Overview:

CB&I is recruiting a Mechanical Engineer to support our proposals group out of our Charlotte, NC office. The ideal candidate will possess an extensive thermal engineering background.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Collect and interpret engineering data
  • Develop project design basis and specifications
  • Perform detailed engineering for development of mass and heat balances
  • Prepare engineering reports
  • Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards, policies and procedures.
  • Address complex problems and nonstandard situations in all engineering disciplines
  • Anticipate customer needs and identify solutions
  • Interpret internal and external business issues and recommend best practices
  • Manage cost for specific projects
  • Forecast and plan resource requirements for projects and depending on project needs may lead teams.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering
  • Followed by 10-15 years of post-baccalaureate progressively responsible detail mechanical engineering work experience in the Power Generation Industry
  • Developing project design basis and design criteria based on corporate standards, industry standards, and project contract requirements; developing mass, heat, and water balances, system requirements from design basis and design criteria, process flow diagrams, mechanical system descriptions of major plant systems, and P&IDs;
  • Performing thermal and hydraulic calculations
  • Providing engineering input to procurement of major plant equipment including development of equipment specification, bidder data sheets and evaluation criteria
  • Performing technical bid evaluation to issue recommendations for purchase of mechanical equipment
  • Coordinating with construction team to furnish erection subcontract packages and review of vendor drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Experience must include 1 year of working with the following tools: GT PRO, GT Master, THERMOFLEX, AFT-ARROW, AFT-Fathom, AFT-Impulse, Gatecycle and MS Office Suite.
