Job Overview:

The Program Management/Construction Management Group of CB&I is seeking an Office Engineer/Engineering Auditor to join an existing project team that is managing a major Superstorm Sandy homeowner recovery program in New York City for a governmental agency client. The Engineering Auditor will join a team of analysts to review construction change orders and contractor invoices for completeness, compliance with contract and program guidelines, and cost and financial accuracy. In addition, any other duties assigned or required.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Conduct audits of payment requisitions for contract work and review change orders for completeness
  • Check invoices for compliance with scope of work, contractual obligations and program guidelines
  • Check billed charges for financial accuracy and compliance with payment terms
  • Identify billing issues and summarize findings in a report to the Construction Invoice Review Manager
  • Perform a final review and examination of prices, reimbursable costs, technical and trade labor rates, multipliers, overhead factors and other related documents in order to certify the fairness and reasonableness of contract changes
  • Perform field inspections to verify that work is of good quality and has progressed sufficiently to warrant payment requested
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Construction Management and/or Design required
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in performing engineering audits required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good verbal, writing and computer skills; proficient with Excel and Microsoft products
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred
  • Preference will be given to candidates with working knowledge of various types of capital construction and consultant contracts, and applicable regulations and directives of the City of New York
