The System Value Optimization- System Engineer will be tasked with increasing the economic position of turbine projects. The team works with the commercial organizations to identify projects (both at the conceptual design phase and the inquiry to order phase) that can benefit from increased insight into the technical capabilities of GE's wind turbine products.

Essential Responsibilities

As The System Value Optimization- System Engineer team member, you will lead optimization activities to extract maximum value by balancing loads, operability, life, noise, thermals, cost, power quality, power curve, and technology. You will also support the efforts of the team through development of tools to automate labor intensive processes. The role will develop and apply conceptual design capability, tools, and methodologies to evaluate new wind turbine concepts and options to apply and improve existing products.

As The System Value Optimization System Engineer, you will:

•Execute design studies for application of current and/or enhanced products to site specific conditions
•Execute conceptual design studies for new products and for the improvement of existing products
•Develop and implement wind turbine conceptual design capability, tools, and methodologies
•Highlight value opportunities to apply to NTI (New Technology Introduction) and NPI (New Product Introduction)
•Lead integrated conceptual design load, costing, structural design, life, noise, operability, and thermal tool improvements
•Effectively hand-off concepts to NPI development teams
•Effectively hand-off site specific applications to Wind Farm Engineering and/or COE teams


• Master's degree in Mechanical, Civil & Aerospace Engineering
• In depth knowledge on aero, fatigue & system dynamics
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills for simulation results interpretation; Creative problem solving skills
• Good interpersonal communication skills to work in global organization

Desired Characteristics

• Knowledge in the field of Wind Turbine Technology
• Hands-on experience with wind turbine aero elastic simulation tools (Flex5, Bladed etc.)
• Understanding of the IEC, GL, DIBt guidelines and compliance requirements
• Programming skills to develop tools for automations (Matlab, Excel VBA, etc.)
• Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment with a global team across cultural boundaries
• Experience with gas turbine performance simulations
• Proven success embracing and leading change initiatives
• Strong project management experience
