The Wind Turbine Manufacturing Engineer will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. You will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Wind Turbine Manufacturing Engineer, you will:
  • Manage large projects involving equipment development and installation
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing methods and create process routings
  • Design and build / procure necessary tooling and finishing within budgets
  • Support equipment upgrades from purchase through installation
  • Conduct cost / benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment
  • Support Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) projects
  • Drive Process Improvement / Cycle Reduction initiatives and drive productivity improvements via process changes or improvements
  • Ensure processes contribute to a safe work environment
  • Identify and reduce sources of labor efficiency variations
  • Identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation
  • Support the quality function through integration of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) / Quality Control (QC) documentation and Manufacturing methods Instructions
  • Lead high impact process and quality improvement projects yielding significant reduction in defects and increased productivity
  • Lead New Technology Initiatives (NTI) and share best practices with other locations
  • Utilize Lean Six Sigma manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs and increase capacity
  • Develop budgets to support yearly planning processes


  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial equipment manufacturing environment

    Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with industrial power tools (i.e. pneumatic, electric, and battery)
  • Experience with technical trouble shooting on equipment, tools, machines, or engines
  • Junior Military Officer (JMO)
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical design ability
  • Experience with heavy industrial assembly processes involving overhead cranes
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Ability to manage priorities and achieve results
  • Ability to build consensus at all levels around process changes and facilitate employee initiated improvements
  • Exposure to and knowledge of Lean Six Sigma
  • Strong Project Management, oral and written communication skills
  • Strong manufacturing process knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Junior Officer Leadership Program (JOLP) / Operations Management Leadership Program (OMLP) Graduate (GE Employees Only)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certified or equivalent quality certification
  • Demonstrated ability to solve technical issues and implement solutions that account for ergonomic, quality and cost considerations
