The Lead Engineer has the technical, engineering cost and schedule responsibility for WSC (Water & Steam Cycle) equipment like Power cycle Pumps (BFP/ CEP), Deaerators, Drive Turbine, HP/LP Bypass & Control Valves, Condensers, HP/LP Heaters, Vacuum Pumps/ Ejectors etc. from the Project take-over from tendering team until hand-over to construction group and O and M organization.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the design of his/her Engineering function is according to the applicable rules, regulations
    codes and standards and according to good engineering practise especially with regard to
    environmental aspects and health & safety of site personal, operators, maintenance personnel and third
  • Comply with the Quality and EHS rules from the project, business, sector and corporate within the own
    area of activity
    Execution of Water Steam Cycle equipment activities on assigned project and proposal.
  • Supports the Project Engineering Manager in their project activities
  • Shall be accountable for the correctness of his specifications, technical replies and for the correctness of
    his document follow-up schedule
  • Ensure a coordinated approach in all areas with the other Engineering Activities
  • Ensure leadership and motivation by establishing an open and broad communication of the principles,
    objectives and targets of the project including the feedback communication
  • Supports the Department Head with identification of training needs, planning, execution and follow-up of
    the appropriate training as required for own project members
  • Provide input to scheduling
  • Attend kick off meeting and keep the assigned engineers informed
  • Ensure the follow-up of the engineering processes and the corresponding work instructions
  • Coordinate with the PEM and other projects LE the information workflow and mitigate in case of
  • Participate in the elaboration of the procurement concept (Engineering/Procurement Plan EPP) as
    required by the Project Engineering Manager (PEM), and implement the EPP
  • Participate Design Reviews and the Design Freeze meetings and ensure that corrective actions defined
    by the Design Reviews are closed on time
  • Request preparation of the QCP (Quality Control Plan) for the equipment by purchasing and supports the preparation of QCP
  • Ensure pro-active follow-up input management to track and trace documents and material from the
    document management, expediting and MTA system
  • Support in claim negotiations and preparation of relevant documentation and facts
  • Support the site and ensure processing of NCRs
  • Take care and co-ordinate of "As-Built" documentation
    Technical assistance on site for construction and start up


Education & Training
Mandatory (MUST): Degree in Mechanical Engineering

Desirable (NICE TO HAVE): Specialization in Power Plant

Professional Experience
(Experience gained on the job during professional life)

Mandatory (MUST): Relevant experience in large Power plant projects; 7 - 10 years experience in the Field of Engineering for major Power/ Petrochemical Plants in
total, Ideally thereof 2 - 3 years in the role as lead Engineer; Specific Knowledge about the relevant international codes and standards ANSI, ASME, API, NFPA ,
HEI, PTC etc.

Desirable (NICE TO HAVE): Site Experience; Course of studies appropriate to the technical field involved

Functional Know-how
  • Know and apply design methods, rules and tools to specify the system/components
  • Power Plant process knowledge
  • Knowledge of interfaces
  • Good skills in the use of computer applications and computer tools (Microsoft Office, Access)
  • Has a good knowledge of Engineering, Design and Project Management tools and methods
  • Controls Systems
