Essential Responsibilities

The Field Services Technician combines multiple skill sets into a dynamic role, critical to the success of the business. This role requires strong technical ability along with strong people skills for effectiveness with customers and the GE team, as well as high self-motivation and responsiveness - key attributes for success in Services.

  • Execute commissioning of GEJenbacher Gas Engines at customer site locations
  • Provide assistance to customers, operating staff and other GE field personnel on the installation
  • Perform troubleshooting activities on site to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution and implement corrective actions
  • Resolve complex technical issues, foster knowledge sharing and help others
  • Explain complex technical issues in a concise way
  • Act as interface between customer, channel partner and GEJenbacher
    • Provide external and internal reports in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
  • Identify and report all customer quality or compliance concerns immediately to the organization
  • Build a strong customer relationship through a positive, proactive & professional approach
  • Maintain tools and test equipment properly and ensure they're calibration
  • Prove a strong safety mindset to ensure the executed work reflects the technical requirements along with the GE safety standards


    • Relevant vocational qualification - higher technical education or apprenticeship plus relevant work experience
    • Authorized for working on electrical equipment (minimum 1000V), proof necessary
    • Significant field service experience on reciprocating engines
    • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, approx. 90% of the time, flexibility to work over-time
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in an understandable manner
    • Professional knowledge of control technologies and (SPS) programming
    • Strong customer orientation and ability to deliver consistently a high level of performance
    • Fluent English skills - verbal & written
    • Valid driving license
    • Valid passport
    • Work Location - Europe

    According to Austrian law job postings need to include the minimum salary for a position. For this position the minimum salary based on the collective agreement is EURO 2.373,62 gross monthly. Please note that this is the very minimum salary and will most likely be higher. The effective salary is based on the candidate's Qualification and Experience and will be negotiated accordingly.

    Desired Characteristics

    • RCA Leader certification preferred
    • Green belt certification preferred
