Department Overview

The Public Affairs team leads public affairs activities and strategies in our operational areas by partnering with cities and counties, community-based organizations, environmental and business organizations to enhance customer loyalty, environmental leadership, and community engagement. Public Affairs efforts are designed to facilitate the efficient execution of utility operational projects and enable critical infrastructure development. It serves as an anchor in providing the company with direction on policy and customer insight on matters that affect our communities.

Position Summary

Serve as Public Affairs Representative acting as a liaison between the Electric organization and Public Affairs. Work collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders at all levels and positions. Cooperate with all other supporting lines of businesses including but not limited to Local Customer Experience, Corporate Relations, Customer Communications, Land, Environmental, and Law. Increase operational success by enhancing project strategy with local community analysis. Develop and execute effective public affairs campaigns to support PG&E's infrastructure investments. Coordinate Electric Operations work with Local Public Affairs field teams including local agency outreach and permit support. Provide training and support for the field representatives on various operational projects, programs, and/or issues


Minimum Qualifications include:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 3 years of experience in Government Relations, Public Affairs, Public Policy Development, Government Finance, Fiscal and Regulatory Issues

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Knowledge of PG&E Electric Operations, specifically those related to project execution
• Government relations experience in the PG&E service territory
• Regulatory experience or experience working in a regulated environment
• Experience with permitting, easement and right-of-way management
• Experience effectively advocating for the needs of diverse stakeholders and communities potentially impacted by projects
• Experience anticipating and mitigating stakeholder concerns that could become barriers to project execution
• Experience managing critical relationships with external stakeholders, including customer groups, civic leaders, regulators and elected officials
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute complex strategies to educate decision makers in both the community and government to gain support for key company initiatives, projects and priorities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, databases, and Google Earth


• Successfully execute a public affairs strategy that leads to the timely and effective implementation of Electric Operations programs and projects
• Act as point of contact for Electric Operations to better integrate Public Affairs into planning and tracking of
Electric Operations programs/projects
• Engage Local Public Affairs field representatives on operational projects and initiatives
• Track and report on Local Public Affairs engagement with Electric Operations
• Support a comprehensive corporate Public Affairs program throughout the PG&E service territory with a focus on Electric Operations programs and projects
• Support the development of government/business/community partnerships with a focus on promoting Electric Operations efforts
• Ability to travel (within the service territory area) up to 50% of the time
