CH2M is currently seeking an Assistant Construction Manager that specializes in Transit and Rail Facilites for our Philadelphia transit and rail team. In this position you will manage the construction oversight inspection and quality audit activities. You will serve as the technical representative, providing technical direction through the duration of construction, including quality oversight of construction contractors QA/QC program, developing punch list, substantial completion checklists, tracking and scheduling testing and commissioning and turn-over of projects.
Daily Tasks and Duties:
  • Primary client contact for all project-field activities
  • Schedule and conduct progress meetings, provide weekly status to Program Construction Manager
  • Perform invoice processing, change order reviews, schedule update reviews
  • Maintain electronic project logs and documentation files
  • Confirm construction contractor safety programs are submitted, approved and followed by all parties involved in the project as well as any client and/or third party safety requirements are followed for all on-site personnel
  • Assist the Program Construction Manager
  • Perform Office Engineer duties, including scheduling, reporting, attending meetings, processing submittals, RFI's, Non-Conformance Reports, Weekly Reports, Monthly Reports
  • Perform Assistant Construction Manager duties, including on-site contractor oversight and management, field oversight, reporting, documenting, photography, measuring, coordination, issue resolution, deisgn interface, client forward interaction
  • Added duties may also include management of other field staff, including Assistant CM/RE, Office Engineer, and inspectors
  • Support project by establishing a safety culture and network of resources to engage with ongoing field operations to meet the needs of the delivery teams
  • Implement schedule, cost, quality, communication, and decision making information tools and processes across the project for effective delivery
  • Support the program controls leadership to establish schedule control, cost control, change management, risk management and reporting tools
  • Assist/Lead project meetings with contractor and stakeholders
  • Assist/Actively manage and report on the status of the construction schedule and budget. Monitor the contract progress and make recommendation to client for contractor payments
  • Work to build a cooperative partnership between the client, contractors, and all stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of project issues and the overall success of the project
  • Demonstrate effective risk management and mitigation practices through proper risk identification, assessment, tracking and communication

The minimum qualifications for this position are:
  • Engineering or Architecural Degree
  • On-site construction experience
  • 5+ years of progressively challenging experience on major construction projects performing Office Engineering, Assistant Construction Management and/or Construction Engineering Inspection duties
  • Experience on transportation projects, such as rail and transit facilities
  • Proficiency in the use of computer to prepare reports using programs such as Word, Excel, Contract Manager, Scheduling Software
  • Proven excellent working knowledge of construction scheduling
  • Demonstrated highly effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven as excellent leader/player with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel to locations across the United States up to 25% of the time
