Junior Research Engineer Industrial Placement

It also includes areas such as Strategy & Corporate Affairs, Chief Information Office, Research & Development and Supply Chain who all provide critical support to the business units across the company.
We're looking for a Junior Research Engineer to join our Storage System Economics Team for a 12 month Industrial Placement. This job is focused on Research & Development activities related to technical and economic analysis of energy storage in the UK market, supporting EDF/EDF Energy in their long term decisions and business developments related to storage technologies within the UK Market. During this placement, you'll develop a good knowledge of Storage technologies, markets, services and business models and will use various simulation tools to provide the required analysis.
* Contribute to specific studies to assess the business opportunities and risks for EDF/EDF Energy in the area of Energy Storage * Support the Storage System Economics R&D Engineer in the delivery of storage activities and projects, with specific focus on technologies, markets, business models and system impact analysis. * Develop relationships with key stakeholders in this sector, internally and externally. * Develop energy system modelling/simulation skills, and use various energy system scenarios from internal and external sources to assess the role of Storage in the future energy mix. * Be an active team member of the R&D UK Centre, providing assistance where required.
This opportunity is suitable for any individual that is currently studying (or has recently completed) a degree in maths, or an associated subject. You'll be on track to achieve or will have already achieved a 2:1 undergraduate degree or 2:2 postgraduate qualification. You'll have strong analytical and data management skills. As well as initiative, independence and a strong interest in new technology development and scientific research.
