Position Summary

  • Lead Engineer responsible for supervising and managing the mechanical engineering activities associated with large capital EPC projects in excess of 1 billion dollars.
  • Monitor and assist as necessary in the development of mechanical equipment data sheets, specifications, inquiries, technical bid summaries, purchase orders and construction packages.
  • Develop effort hour estimates and scope documents to support project definition.
  • Participate in developing overall EPC schedule for Mechanical Engineering as well as assessing the progress of the Mechanical effort and managing the budget.
  • Coordinate the review of vendor drawings and data used for all mechanical equipment and communicate detailed design issues effectively with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Effectively follow equipment through fabrication, installation, and start-up and provide support to field staff as required to support specific project requirements.
  • Coordinate and cooperate with discipline lead engineers to ensure the smooth flow of all information on the project task force, and to ensure alignment with project requirements
  • Consult with Department Manager and Subject Matter Experts on technical problems, staffing requirements, and schedule issues relating to project commitments for deliverables
  • Monitor progress and performance of personnel on project team to assure quality and consistency for all deliverables
  • Demonstrate customer focus in all actions
  • Ensure adherence to industry codes and standards as well as department work instructions, specifications, and standards for assigned project
  • Continually monitor task force staffing requirements to align with project needs
  • Facilitate weekly project team update meeting
  • Serve as Supervising Engineer, providing guidance/supervision to other engineers and function as mentor to less experienced engineers.
  • Coordinate 3DModeling effort with Lead Mechanical Designer and all other Disciplines to support Model reviews
  • Interface directly with Work-share 'offshore' offices to ensure mechanical scope is fully conveyed, and to ensure quality/consistency for all deliverables
  • Local and international travel, as required, to ensure the successful execution of project

  • BS or MS in Engineering with 15 to 25 years of experience in the EPC industry supporting oil, gas and petrochemical processing facilities.
  • Must have proven leadership experience associated on large-cap lump sum projects.
  • Must have experience with the following types of equipment: Rotating Machinery, Packaged Units, Pressure Vessels, or Heat Transfer equipment (Un-Fired & Fired).
  • Demonstrates a broad technical knowledge of engineering
  • PE registration desired
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Smart Plant Tools Suite (SPPID, SPRD, S3D, etc)
  • Construction/site experience
  • Must have knowledge of applicable design standards such as API, ASME, PIP, TEMA or HTRI.
