Department Overview

The security function is led by PG&E's Vice President - Chief Information Security Officer and is responsible for security and risk management across the organization.

The Corporate Security Function partners with Cybersecurity and is responsible for the physical security and risk management of all PG&E assets and resources.

Position Summary

Communications Security / Physical Security positions provide expertise and leadership to the operations of the Fairfield Security Control Center network, including aspects of NERC compliance. Jobs in this job family work with key Line of Business contacts and build strong relationships to address potential issues which could affect PG&E's ability to remain in NERC compliance. Incumbents provide oversight of the Fairfield Security Control Center, including assigned PG&E Fairfield Security Control Operators, contract security personnel, and physical improvements to the facility including anticipated relocation. Incumbents oversee the Corporate Security Department's role in operating the company's personnel electronic access control system. Incumbents also oversee the company's relationships and contracts with all contract security companies, at FSCC and all other locations except nuclear facilities


Minimum Education
• High school diploma or GED

Minimum Experience:
• At least eight years of experience working with security control systems and security personnel, including security or law enforcement dispatch center operations

Minimum License/Certifications:
• California Driver's License
• Must be able to qualify for NERC/CIP clearance

• MA/MS/MBA degree or equivalent work experience
CISSP and or CISM/CISA or other relevant certification, or ability to obtain via self-study within one year of date of hire

• Directly supervise PG&E Fairfield Security Control Operators who serve as shift leaders to contract security officer operators during 24 hour per day FSCC operations. This includes interviewing and making hiring recommendations, providing coaching and career mentoring, tracking employee progress through the performance management process and making salary recommendations.
• Alarm Response Management / Dispatch - Operator response to alarms based off policy and procedures set forth / implemented by PG&E Management.
• Directly supervise the CSD Security Systems Coordinator, who administers PG&E contract security company contracts.
• Oversee operation of the access control database and related security systems (e.g., access control door alarms, intrusion alarms, panic alarms and video surveillance systems).
• Review and modify as necessary post orders of contract security officers at FSCC and field locations, and ensure personnel adherence to orders.
• Serve as PG&E's primary management representative with all companies providing security officer personnel to PG&E facilities.
• Identify and schedule training for all FSCC personnel (employee and contract) and all PG&E-specific training for field contract security officers.
• Serve as CSD's representative to FFIOC, Lines of Business and other CSD managers, regarding FSCC and contract security officer operations.
• Implement and develop FSCC processes and procedures to ensure network operational compliance and effectiveness.
• Handle security-related calls from the field to FSCC, for assistance/resolution.
• Assist with FSCC and field contract security officer scheduling, including identifying and resolving gaps.
• Work with Line of Business contacts on access issues and concerns.
• Ensure unauthorized entries/attempts to enter PG&E facilities are detected by FSCC and field security officer personnel and effectively resolved with site, security or law enforcement personnel as appropriate.
• Monitor functionality of security systems reporting to FSCC and ensure malfunctions are reported and corrected in a timely manner.
• Generate NERC reports (i.e., daily access verification audit, daily site alarm statistics, outage documentation) as required by CSD personnel for action/remediation.
• Perform review of background and training requirements of all NERC access requests.
• Oversee physical improvements to FSCC, including anticipated relocation.
• Directly supervise three Fairfield Security Control Operators at FSCC and one Security Systems Coordinator at the General Office.
• Provide oversight to approximately 20 contract security officers at FSCC and over 100 contract security officers at field locations.
