CH2M have been appointed to perform Site Supervision services on a number of regional water projects to include tunneling works.

The Assistant Resident Engineers (ARE) will act as the primary point of contact under the authority of the Resident Engineer. The AREs will oversee and document the day to day site based work of the contractor including contract administration, quality and inspection, submittals reviews, health and safety monitoring, environmental monitoring, interface coordination, monitoring of permitting and stakeholder interfaces.
The role requires specific experience with underground construction techniques, including either larger diameter main tunnels or micro tunneling. In your role you will be expected to:-

• Assist and support the Resident Engineer with reporting and monitoring of the works
• Implement procedures relating to H&S, quality, environmental, traffic control and other such requirements
• Implement procedures relating to H&S, quality, environmental, traffic control and other such requirements
• Manage meetings and correspondence with the contractor including minutes and action items
• Collect data and prepare progress charts
• Coordinate and manage work of assigned inspectors
• Review Inspector's reports for completeness
• Review records from the contractor for completeness and accuracy
• Maintain as-built records as required by the Resident Engineer
• Assist in the variation order process
• Assist in the review, negotiation and approval (subject to further approvals) monthly contractor payment requests
• Monitor contractor's quality assurance and quality control teams including that of the quasi-independent Quality Control Engineer
• Perform quality assurance review of all work by the contractor including review of method statements, inspection and test plans, and field inspections
• Periodic attendance at QC testing and factory visits as required
• Assistance in review of submittals other than design submittals
• Review of shop drawings

The minimum qualifications for this position are:
As a successful candidate you will have:-
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering preferred - Mining Degrees considered; Master's degree in a related field an advantage
• Minimum 10 years overall post graduate experience, with at least 5 years' experience on supporting large underground construction works projects
• Prefer Chartered Engineer (UK), PE (USA) or equivalent professional qualification/membership.
• The individual must have strong communication and people skills. Fluency in spoken and written English.
• Competent at writing letters and reports - can present views clearly and concisely in good written English.
• Experience of administering Design and Build contracts using FIDIC Conditions of Contract
• Shaft construction, including: diaphragm wall, secant pile wall, caisson, NATM excavation
• Ground treatment methods, particularly grouting
• Tunnel Boring Machines, particularly Earth Pressure Balance type
• NATM tunnel construction
• Pipe jacking and micro tunneling

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
  • Middle East experience preferred.
  • Prefer Chartered Engineer (UK), PE (USA) or equivalent professional qualification/membership.
