The successful candidate will assist the 53rd Electronic Warfare Group (53 EWG), 53rd Wing, at Eglin AFB, Florida. The 53 EWG is the technical focal point for all electronic warfare (EW) support of warfighter systems for the Combat Air Forces (CAF). The mission of the 53 EWG is to develop and test aircraft EW systems and capabilities used to defeat enemy radar and infrared guided missile systems, thus enhancing aircrew and aircraft survivability in combat. COMBAT SHIELD is the EW assessment program used to determine the electronic combat readiness of fighter, rescue, and bomber aircraft, focusing on radar warning receivers, external and internal jamming systems, HARM targeting systems, and infrared countermeasures.

Desired knowledge, skills and abilities associated with this position include:

1. Knowledge of EW systems theory and equipment operation specific to radar, radar warning receivers, missile warning systems, active countermeasures, RF (radio frequency) and IR (infrared) expendable systems, fundamentals of aircraft avionics, and systems integration.

2. Knowledge of DOD test and evaluation methodologies.

3. Knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to assess, evaluate, and improve evaluation plans and programs.

4. Skill in the application of engineering expertise specific to electronic warfare systems theory and equipment operation specific to radar, radar warning receivers, missile warning systems, active countermeasures, RF and IR expendable systems, fundamentals of aircraft avionics, and systems integration to assist teams in designing and conducting comprehensive studies, and developing solutions to problems.

5. Skill in applying engineering concepts, principles, and practices applicable to a broad range of engineering assignments.

The successful candidate will conduct research, develop test plans, execute field testing, analyze data and report results. The candidate will specifically assist in the development of 5th Generation fighter EW testing methodologies. This person will also work as part of a team that often travels to other bases and facilities to conduct COMBAT SHIELD testing on USAF aircraft including the F-22, F-35, F-16, F-15, A-10, HH-60, HC-130, B-1, B-2, and B-52 aircraft.
Candidates must have at least a Bachelors' degree in a technical/engineering discipline with six years of engineering or test experience in a field relating to EW. Experience with EW systems on 5th Generation fighter aircraft is highly desired.

Candidates must also have a demonstrated ability to recognize and analyze problems, conduct research, summarize results, and make appropriate recommendations. Prior demonstrated ability to complete projects independently is required. Applicants must have a working knowledge of computer systems and an understanding of Windows-based personal computers and Microsoft Office software and possess the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written. Candidates must possess and maintain an active Top Secret security clearance.

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary - involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and see and hear with or without accommodation.

Equipment and Machines:

Personal computer (75%), scanner (5%), copy machine (5%), telephone (5%), laser printer (5%), fax machine (2%), and other office equipment including desk supplies.


Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday(excluding Saturday & Sunday). Position may require occasional weekend work depending on task requirements.

Regular attendance is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings. Must be able to work within the shift hours of 6 am and 6 pm.

Other Essential Functions:

Must posses and be able to maintain a Top Secret Clearance

Must pass drug testing.

Must be able to read and write effectively in English.

With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.
