Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Development of a written, firm discipline scope of work that supports the over all project scope of work and ensure that these are followed, including design standards and deliverables list and format
  • Planning, coordination, and management of information from the client and other disciplines and vendors to minimize cost and schedule impact and risk, in accordance with endorsed project schedule
  • Quality: Assure all documents are checked and issued in accordance with the Jacobs Quality Assurance Procedures, and that intra-squad procedures are followed
  • Update Manpower Loading spreadsheet when Engineering Status Report (ESR) is updated, or twice a month when no ESR is required
  • Utilize people assigned to him/her efficiently and give clear instructions to engineers/designers/drafters working under his/her supervision
  • Monitor progress and quality of work produced by others assigned
  • Inform the department manager of the performance of assigned staff
  • Review the procurement portion of the schedule and update as required when requested by the project manager
  • Engineering Status Report: Issue accurate forecast to complete ESR's twice a month, review cost reports and update the discipline needs list and proactively provide needs to the project engineer as they are identified
  • Actively participate in project team meetings and prepare a conference note within two days after leading a meeting or teleconference, and submit to the project manager for signature and issue
  • Identify, in a timely manner, all variances to original budget, schedule, execution, strategy and scope and submit a Project Variance Notice (PVN) to the project manager. Include any proposed mitigations that limit the change's impact. The PVN must be approved in writing by the project manager before proceeding with the change
  • Maintain electronic files for all project documents on the project directory and clean up of records and files for job closeout, and that all electronic/manual drawings have been given to the document controller at project completion
  • Performs other duties as assigned by department manager

  • 2+ years of structural engineering experience required; preferably in the petro-chemical industry
  • BS in Civil Engineering required
  • AutoCAD proficiency desired
  • EIT preferred or PE preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) preferred
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the USA for any employer other than your current employer

Physical Requirements:

• Position will at times involve travel to chemical plants and refineries which may require exposure to temperature extremes. Will occasionally require the use and wear of personal protective equipment such as fire retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hats and steel-toed boots. Will sometimes require moderate physical exertion to include climbing stairs/ladders, entering confined spaces, or walking the property of a job site to take field measurements and evaluate engineering & design options. Most physical requirements are limited to standard office needs (sitting/standing for extended periods of time, use of keyboard and mouse repetitively, lifting of less than 20lbs frequently, etc)
