Department Overview

The Corporate Relations function develops, executes and oversees a broad spectrum of strategic communications initiatives, provides communications counsel and support to all lines of business, and manages the corporate branding program at PG&E.

Position Summary

The position is responsible for developing the customer-facing messaging strategy and materials involving rate-related issues including: regulatory filings and proposed decisions for new/adjusted rates, local community choice aggregation programs, seasonal and annual rate changes and operational notices around rate adjustments. Working closely with the subject matter experts and customer outreach specialists-who interface with customers for escalated issues, you will develop
material and guidance that provides customers and the general public with timely, relevant information about these projects. This work provides a critical layer of awareness and education and helps carry through a unified and consistent corporate message about PG&E's commitment to safe, reliable, affordable and clean service.
Additionally, this candidate will support the Manager, Customer Communications in a variety of ad
hoc projects, supporting meter-related communications, co-branding and translation guidelines, and a variety of operational communications that are delivered to our customers.
Role includes being a first-responder, or a strategic advisor, or both, as required. This requires being "on call", fit for duty, and within one hour of PG&E's San Francisco headquarters two weeks out of ten for emergency coverage
This role is part of the Customer Care Communications team and will provide direct support for the Customer Communications group.


Minimum required skills:
• 7 years of experience in communications (in-house and/or agency)
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or related discipline, or equivalent experience

• Excellent written and verbal communication

• Ability to work with individuals across a wide spectrum of backgrounds
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)• Advanced analytical and organizational
skills with excellent attention to detail
• Strong business acumen, preferably combined with a knowledge of energy and environmental issues
• Experience writing and producing marketing communications for enterprise organizations,
whether in marketing, advertising, analyst relations, public relations and/or similar field. Ideally this would include agency and some corporate marketing communications experience
• Experience developing content and managing communications through multiple delivery channels
(web, print, video, social media)
• Strong desire to take initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, project manage multiple issues concurrently
• Ability to build working relationships across all levels of an organization
• Embraces change and demonstrates flexibility when priorities shift


Communications Strategy and Deployment
• Working with line-of-business operations partners, develop end-to-end communications strategy
that provides impacted customers with sufficient notice, understanding and useful information about local efforts and how these initiatives support the company's objectives
• Collaborate with subject matter experts in Regulatory Affairs, Local Customer Experience and other internal stakeholders to define key messages
• Translate strategy into clear, consistent and effective customer talking points for PG&E
representatives in the field and in our Contact Centers
• As needed, work with Customer Insights group to plan and execute measurement plans for local outreach, to help evaluate the impact of communications on customer awareness, understanding, brand favorability and extent to which customers would want to hear about these projects in the future
• Develop customer-facing letters and presentations on behalf of local Customer Impact reps, to inform them of impending projects and the impact it may have on their service
• Researches, contributes ideas, writes and edits content for external communication channels ensuring consistency in tone, voice and alignment with company branding principles and strategies
• Review, edit, counsel and approve pre-written communications from other stakeholders on an ad
hoc basis to ensure conformity with approved talking points, corporate style and tone and general
communication best practices
• Leverage customer insights and best practices to develop new marketing strategies and concepts
and partner with internal and external teams to execute the best ideas and optimize results

Collateral and Web Development
• Work with internal stakeholders to define messaging requirements, budget, timing and scopes of
work for supporting collateral, including: web updates, brochures, signage, advertising and other materials that support a holistic communications strategy
• Execute the above work based on agreed timelines and incorporate industry best practices to produce high-quality work
• Coordinate the review and approval of campaign materials. Significant coordination is needed
among several stakeholders across the Organization to route and reconcile feedback and gain
approval on deliverables
• Ensure all finished materials meet the project objectives and are produced without errors, consistent with established brand guidelines, communicated to internal parties and inventoried appropriately

Budget and Project Finances
• Role is responsible for working with PG&E's Business Finance and external parties to set up, monitor and report on the status of project finances including Shopping Carts, POs and accruals

On Call and Emergency Response
• Ability to staff emergencies as either a first-responder, or a strategic advisor, or both, as required. This requires being "on call", fit for duty, and within one hour of PG&E's San Francisco headquarters two weeks out of ten for emergency coverage
