Department Overview

The Corporate Relations function develops, executes and oversees a broad spectrum of strategic
communications initiatives, provides communications counsel and support to all lines of business,
and manages the corporate brand and advertising program for PG&E.

Position Summary

Based in Sacramento, California, the Senior Communications Representative develops and
executes external and internal communications plans to inform and engage regional media, customers and employees about the steps we are taking locally to drive safety, reliability, affordability and community vitality in both Electric and Gas. The Senior Communications
Representative will serve as our spokesperson for the Sacramento Valley region and will require travel
throughout the area as needed.
The ideal candidate is:
• Experienced working with media in the Sacramento Valley region
• An excellent writer and communicator who is committed to simple, clear and creative ways of
• An experienced on-camera spokesperson
• Able to develop communication plans, launch and lead communication initiatives across
various internal and external communications channels, including social media
• Comfortable and effective at working with people across all levels of the company, including
senior executives, managers and field-based employees


• 5 or more years of experience in corporate communications (in-house and/or agency),
political communications or as a deadline reporter
• Bachelor's degree preferably in Communications, or equivalent experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• A valid CA driver's license
• Ability and willingness to be on-call, including on nights and weekends, as a member of the
emergency response team

• Worked previously as a company spokesperson or media background
• Experience developing content and managing communications through multiple delivery channels (web, print, video, social media)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, project manage multiple issues and team
members concurrently
• Adaptable, flexible and able to deal with the ambiguity associated with working in a fast-paced and changing environment
• Ability to work with individuals across a wide spectrum of backgrounds
• Excellent collaboration, communication and negotiation skills


• Develop and execute integrated external and internal communications plans across multiple
channels to support of the local lines of business, including Electric Operations, Gas Operations,
Energy Supply and Customer Care
• Serve as a local spokesperson representing PG&E with the media on a variety of local issues
• Regularly engage with local media outlets through phone pitches, media availabilities, events
and editorial board visits
• Develop content for local communications that can be used in media messaging, news
releases, social media, PG&E blog posts (, opinion-editorials, internal
newsletters, Intranet articles, employee emails, fact sheets, etc.
• Serve as the lead Sacramento Valley region spokesperson representing PG&E with the media on a variety of high level local issues
• Develop and maintain local relationships with local media outlets
• Interaction with and counsel to both local and executive leadership
• Play a key role in emergency response efforts, including message creation, control and delivery
• Ability to staff emergencies from a communications perspective as a first-responder
