In Customer Care we are focused on delivering the desired customer experience for each of our customers. Everything we do starts with the customer and our information about the customer. The Field Meter Operations (FMO) Training Team is a dynamic group within Field Meter Operations that focuses on strategically aligning itself with Customer Operations toward a goal of creating the safest most reliable electric operating system in the industry. The Field Meter Operations (FMO) organization is focused first and foremost on building a safety culture that makes safety and employees our top priority. The various field based teams; Field Metering, Meter Reading, Central Inspection Program and Revenue Assurance all provide services to customers that support public safety, timely and accurate billing, up to date energy usage data and energy efficiency programs. Our field teams are supported by Quality and Training personnel,
as well as a dedicated Dispatch and Scheduling operation.

Position Summary

The Field Training Coordinator monitors and supports the overall apprentice training program for an assigned geographic area. This employee will monitor and track all phases of the apprentice training program and will identify and correct conditions or situations that interfere with the efficient training and timely progression of all apprentices.


• Five years related metering experience to include achieving Journeyman status as a qualified Metering Systems Technician or equivalent classification.
• Ability to travel up to 50% throughout northern and central CA
• Valid CA driver's license or ability to obtain by 1st day of hire

• Degree in engineering or technical discipline
• Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) certification, Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) • Ability to instruct Meter Technician apprentices/students to impart technical knowledge in classroom environment as well as physical skills in field environment
• Prior experience observing, coaching and mentoring students in field/yard and in classroom


• The Apprentice Training Coordinator will monitor and track all phases of the apprentice training program and will identify and correct conditions or situations that interfere with the efficient training and timely progression of all apprentices.
• The Apprentice Training Coordinator tracks and monitors the progress of all apprentices by reviewing written and electronic records, conducting telephone interviews and by visiting field-training sites for personal observations of training activities. The Apprentice Training Coordinator should conduct private, face-to-face interviews with each assigned apprentice as frequently as possible, but not less than once per quarter.
• The Apprentice Training Coordinator will monitor apprentice training accomplishments and remaining training requirements. The Apprentice Training Coordinator will maintain an up to date listing of field work suitable for apprentice training and will coordinate with the apprentice's supervisor to suggest appropriate work assignments to ensure the efficient timing and sequencing of training events.
• As necessary, the Apprentice Training Coordinator will provide training resources, guidance, advice, and facilitate access to technical experts to support all persons who have a role in the apprentice training process.
• The Apprentice Training Coordinator will collect, verify, input and update apprentice and supervisor information and apprentice training records, or will oversee these activities should administrative support be present.
• Apprentice Training Coordinator will co-develop corrective action plans that are timely and efficient in the resolution of training deficiencies, monitoring the same through completion.
• As required by an individual Program, the Apprentice Training Coordinator will perform formal evaluations of apprentice performance during field visits. The Apprentice Training Coordinator will also monitor and report on the performance of the field trainers during field visits.
• Act as classroom instructor. Provides skill instruction to students.
• The Apprenticed Training Coordinator will suggest changes and revisions to the training program when appropriate.
