Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently recruiting for a Fabrication Project Engineer, who will be r esponsible for Implementation of Inspection and Repair Facility Fabrication Estimating procedures to ensure that project cost estimates are prepared to the required level of detail and accuracy in accordance with the contractual requirements.

This role is then responsible for the delivery of each responsible scope from estimating stage through to completion, including the administration of the change management process.

  • Receive enquiry through the AESSOP estimating system.
  • Read & identify SOW.
  • Identify 3 rd party vendors & send drawings out for them to supply quotations (NDT, Hydro, painting, load test, etc.)
  • Create a new estimate in AESSOP & enter in each individual drawing number.
  • Collate BOM from supplied drawings & enter into AESSOP.
  • Send enquiries to material suppliers to obtain prices.
  • Populate AESSOP with various materials suppliers' cost / man hours for SOW using norms & experience / 3 rd party vendor costs etc.
  • Qualify the final estimate adding any notes or material substitutions offered & get the estimate checked / approved.
  • Send estimate to client.
  • Take receipt of order or approval to proceed either through IRS inbox or directly from client.
  • Turn the estimate into a job in AESSOP creating a unique job number.
  • Provide all relevant material & 3 rd party vendor quotes to purchasing specialist to procure against the assigned job number.
  • Populate the drawings numbers in AESSOP individually with the required NDT level, Hydro test info, Paint spec & colours etc. to create a job card
  • Populate the job card notes with relative information about the job.
  • Issue signed job card & drawings to QA/QC.
  • Manage jobs through fabrication & capture any variations as the job continues fabrication by means of a revised quotation.
  • Ensure PO / MR is updated in line with approved variations
  • Act as single point of contact for client & deal with any general queries etc.
  • Approve for invoicing the job for the correct amount once delivered.
  • Coaching and supporting developing members of the team

Skills / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • HND in relevant technical or business discipline or can be substituted by suitable industry experience.
  • Fabrication experience in estimating positions.
  • Good Working knowledge of all estimating techniques and systems with a detailed knowledge of their implementation.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction projects in the oil and gas industry, preferably in both onshore and offshore environment
  • Good Working knowledge and application of estimating principles.

Job-Specific Skills:
Advanced Computerised systems user.
In Depth understanding of project management principles and techniques.
Good Supervisory Skills
Good understanding of Cost Control, Estimating, Change control, Risk analysis and Planning.
Meets all competency criteria.
