Here's a fantastic opportunity for a skilled analyst with wind expertise to be part of our exciting commitment to new energies. Bringing your technical experience and commercial knowledge to an ambitious role that will help develop future energy opportunities.

Purpose and Accountabilities
Shell is a willing and able player in the energy transition with the ultimate objective of maintaining a sustainable business model. As a part of this, we are growing our New Energies and Offshore Wind portfolio by developing new sites and through buying into projects started by others. The offshore wind market is growing in size and competitiveness and Shell's offshore wind team is growing as well to enable Shell to successfully participate in these opportunities.

The Offshore Wind Yield Engineer Analyst will be a member of the Offshore Wind Business Development team in New Energies. The Offshore Wind Yield Analyst is responsible for providing technical expertise during all stages of offshore wind project development in the specific subjects of wind data management, wind field modelling, wind turbine layout design, energy yield modelling and yield optimization with respect to LCOE. Among others, this includes the preparation of data processing, wind energy potential analysis and modelling by means of relevant technical software solutions and risk assessments of technical-contractual issues and results.
The jobholder has also the responsibility for meteorological monitoring campaigns and associated data management issues and will also be expected to conduct and communicate the results of desktop studies, such as layout design sensitivity analyses, wind farm performance assessments or other well-defined analytical tasks.

Job Tasks
  • Management, processing and provision of wind data (via data and acquisition management), as well as mathematical, statistical analysis and modelling (long-term wind climate, wind energy potential analysis, wind energy forecasting) for the purpose of net yield modelling for projects in different lifecycle phases (due diligence, development, engineering, operations) using industry standard tools;
  • Development and optimization of wind farm layout designs with focus on LCOE and maximization of yield;
  • Help to develop a database of meteorological towers, tracking data and tower status;
  • Further development and implementation of methods, models, processes and software solutions
  • Evaluation of design concepts, technical solutions, inherent risks (in terms of wind yield, energy yield, modelling, uncertainty analysis) and review of third party energy yield assessment reports;
  • Execution of technical due diligence (wind, statistics, layout, yield, technical losses) in the acquisition and evaluation of wind projects;
  • Advise Business Opportunity Managers regarding potential project bids;
  • Maintain productive relationships and work with internal and external stakeholders in various areas of wind resource assessment as needed, coordinating specific tasks from scoping to presenting the results, clearly understanding the intent of the work and helping to shape the task itself;
  • Continually enhance personal skill set in the field of wind resource assessment;
  • Develop technical skills in appropriate areas, for example: wind analysis; use of GIS for site design; data acquisition via SCADA;
  • Develop communication and networking skills needed for business development in the global wind industry;
  • Manage work priorities to deliver timely results to stakeholders;
  • Review, application and further development of relevant regulations, standards and best practice, taking into account lessons learned and insights from Projects and Shell's R&D department
