Purpose:

The Area Maintenance Rotating Planner, reporting to the Routine MW/PF Planning Supervisor, provides quality job plans that include site preparation, parts requirements, support equipment requirements and resources with the appropriate task sequencing necessary to allow for the efficient scheduling and execution of Rotating maintenance work.

The Area Maintenance Rotating Planner primarily interfaces with the area Millwright Maintenance Team Leads, Millwright Craft Team Members, Operations Production Coordinators & the Process Isolation Coordinators. Inputs into the plans are provided from a variety of sources which include, but are not limited to, contract service providers, technical, safety & environment, purchasing, warehouse and documents & control.


Accountabilities:

HSSE:
  • Ensuring all work plans are planned in the safest manner possible with a focus on Goal Zero. Hazards are identified through proper field visits with an emphasis on safe execution.
  • Be a role model for all other company and contract employees with respect to compliance to safety/operating procedures, policies, practices, standards and PPE Standards.
  • Develop comprehensive maintenance plans in accordance with site Safe Work Practices & Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines.
  • Involve appropriate contractors in pre-planning field visits to ensure involvement and buy in to job plans.
  • Complete assigned training on time as scheduled in Shell Open University.
  • Actively participate in department Health and Safety Meetings in the following capacities:
    • Actively participate in quarterly safety meetings (you are encouraged to volunteer to develop and conduct some meetings).
    • Submit safety suggestions and work toward solutions.
    • Correct and document near misses.
  • Report all incidents and injuries and be responsible for your own safety
  • Intervene immediately on any non-compliant behaviors.

Planning:

  • Plan all area maintenance Rotating work orders with an emphasis on pumps, compressors & turbines that covers the full scope of operations & maintenance and accommodating safety requirements.
  • Develop and plan comprehensive area maintenance Rotating equipment plans in accordance with site Safe Work Practices, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines as per department needs. This includes, but is not limited to, safety requirements, manpower requirements, work sequencing, tool requirements, material requirements and entering requisitions for materials and services.
  • Job plans will be developed in accordance with the Scotford Rotating Maintenance Planning Check Sheet.
  • Provide detailed cost estimates for planned maintenance activities.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Planner's backlog as determined by the site standard ME work process. Interface with the area OMC to establish priority of plans to ensure work is being performed on the correct priority jobs.
  • Elevate to OMC when requested completion dates inside the Planner backlog are unattainable.
  • Maintain interface with technical, production, CTM's and MTL's to obtain input when evaluating initial work scope to determine appropriate involvement in the planning and execution process.
  • All reactive work orders will have a planned field package.
  • Ensure field walks are conducted prior to plan completion and moving work orders to the OMC's que. Field walks with craft members shall be conducted as required to assure quality plans.
  • Conduct regular field checks during execution of complex work to audit your own plans.
  • Ensure plans are updated based on field input via the Planner history/feedback process.
  • Maintain comprehensive library plans for your production unit.
  • Embed learning's in electronic library plans and corrective maintenance task lists.
  • Use equipment history and other technical information to include in current job plans.
  • Review backlog of new work orders that are waiting to be planned.
  • Maintain and manage the correct status of each work order in the planning process.

Lean:

  • Along with the Area Team, the Area Maintenance Rotating Planner will constantly look for opportunities to improve cost-effectiveness.
  • Support and encourage lean thinking, idea generation and execution of ideas within your team and department.
  • Foster and promote the team concept to move toward the goal of high-performance work teams.
  • Help identify best maintenance practices and develop/ support procedures that set specific job expectations.

Requirements:
  • Journeyman Certificate with a minimum of (5) five years' experience in an industrial upgrader, oil refinery, petrochemical plant or similar facility.
  • Experience with the SAP GSAP/BluePrint CMMS systems is required
  • Experience with AIM & AHA/EDW (computer data storage warehouses)
  • Experience with SharePoint.
  • Planning experience considered a definite asset.
  • Scheduling experience is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills working with Leaders, Craft Team Members, Maintenance Specialists, and Engineering.
  • Technically competent.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Can manage evolving priorities and deliver on multiple commitments in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to adapt to change and help others through the change process.
  • Self-motivated and driven.
