Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently recruiting for a Technical Writer to be worked on our PMC onshore pipeline project in Dubai.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following
  • Compose clear and coherent technical information
  • Prepare Technical Documents for onshore pipeline project based on Specifications, Plans, Operating manuals, Procedures, vendor information, maintenance, and operations experience
  • Write ITB and instruction manuals for users.
  • Possess complete understanding of ITB preparation process for the Lumpsum type contracts from engineering stage FEED until award.
  • Ensure that technical documents are written in accordance with established company guidelines and procedures as well as meeting regulatory compliance
  • Determine the needs of end users project team of technical and non- technical documentation.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the audience and the documentation required by meeting with project team and client.
  • Work with technical and non-technical staff (engineering, subcontracts, procurement and project controls) in preparing an ITB for Lumpsum contract.
  • Plan, develop, organize, write and edit engineering procedures, specifications and manuals.
  • Determines the clearest and most logical way to present information and instructions for greatest reader comprehension and writes and edits technical information accordingly.
  • Prepares or commissions graphics and illustrations to elaborate on or complement technical writing.
  • Meets with subject matter experts in order to ensure that specialised topics are appropriately addressed and discussed.
  • Revises, edits, or updates instructions, technical information, and frequently asked questions as necessary
  • Creates, adapts, and follows project schedules and deadlines
  • Produce electronic documentation in addition to hard copy manuals
  • Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style of content Manage updates and revisions to technical literature
  • Participate in meetings with operations and engineering disciplines to understand overall scope and ensure that recommended changes are included in the final document
  • Liaise with document controller and ensure that relevant revisions of the documents are published with sufficient time given for reviews.
  • Collect reviews from discipline engineers and include their input
  • Complete writing assignments in line with in-house or Client's writing style guide and templates.
  • Perform QA/QC on manuals to ensure all manuals follow the same standards and formats as directed by in-house or client requirements

Skills / Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications (Native English Speaker preferred). Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have 10 years minimum experience as technical Writer or equivalent in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Proven experience working in a technical writing position and development of manuals for Oil & Gas equipment and Safety Management Systems, and understand the processes involved.
  • Experience in Engineering projects (process engineering) is preferred, however extensive experience working with operations to write operating manuals, procedures will also be considered.
  • Must be proficient with using a PC and have in-depth knowledge of software such as Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and working knowledge of graphics software such as Visio and of desk top publishing and printing•
  • Able to write in explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences
  • Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking
