We're on the lookout for an experienced analyst with a passion for working in a fast-paced and exciting environment, with every opportunity to learn from Shell's commercial expertise. The perfect chance for a self-starter to grow quickly within a global company.

Where you fit in

As Market Risk Analyst, you're going to be a vital part of our Shell Trading and Supply finance team - forging the link between commercial and finance management, and providing an independent view into Shell's global trading business performance.

A perfect role for developing your commercial and finance skillset in a fast moving and challenging trading business environment, you'll be learning a variety of practices, working with diverse teams across a range of departments, from Commercial Trading and Contract Management to Operations and Financial Reporting.

What's the role?

Your job will be to provide advice and support on all aspects of deal valuations as you quickly develop a thorough understanding of the trading business, including growing specialist knowledge of market risk measures that will help to drive business and financial performance.

Your skills for gathering and interpreting vital information from support staff will be key here: using your knowledge of trading books to highlight and present book strategy and offering insight to senior management that will inform strategic decision making.

It goes without saying you'll need to be highly self-motivated, eager to identify opportunities and ideas and make improvements to the way we work, without compromising the Shell Trading Control Framework. You'll thrive multi-tasking and working under pressure to tight deadlines.

Other duties will include:
  • Developing suitable measurement and reporting methodologies.
  • Reviewing the fit of new business proposals within the current risk control framework.
  • Ensuring current systems, processes and controls are able to handle the business.
  • Leveraging market risk modelling practices including Value at Risk, Stress Testing, and Options Analytics.

Finally, your natural people skills will mean you'll easily nurture strong relationships, using your strong influencing skills to challenge where necessary, as well as being able to confidently present the business factors that drive financial results, risk and exposures, to a range of stakeholders.

The candidate will be based either in London or Rotterdam.
