Process and Analytics Engineer
Our client is seeking a Process Engineer to work within their facilities in Edmonton, AB
The primary focus of this role is to ensure the safe and reliable pipeline operation by supporting the ongoing Intelligent Valve Placement (IVP) Program for Liquid Pipelines (LP) Assets. Focus will be to collaborate with various key Stakeholders to collect/ steward associated input data, in order to develop accurate volume out calculations. And ultimately provide engineering recommendations on where these automated valves should be installed.
In parallel, this role will also coordinate general maintenance, improvements and changes needed to these volume out calculations as impacted from operational changes.
? Executes and analyzes the volume out calculations, along with providing the engineering recommendations for optimal valve placement.
? Coordinates the collection and stewardship of the input / output data to ensure accurate models are built, and can review data anomalies that impact final deliverables.
? Fosters strong stakeholder collaboration, engagement and communication amongst team members.
? Supports Project Teams by meeting timely deliverables as it relates to IVP scope, in line with the Project Gating Cycle.
? Input /steer review process for Management of Changes (MOC's) as it relates to IVP initiatives.
Supporting Role with Data Analytics:
? Collect and validate operating data, extract insight, and build business cases to drive actions.
? Explore and describe data sets using statistical methods to estimate values, test hypotheses, and examine relationships between various operational parameters.
? Develop and/or utilize strong visualizations using tools such as PI Vision, Microsoft BI to deliver insight to decision makers.
Supporting Role with Process / Hydraulics - Inclusive of both new and existing LP Assets:
? Provide some additional engineering support, when needed, in developing steady-state hydraulic models to support the iPETH team.
? Input /steer review process for Management of Changes (MOC's) as it relates to these iPETH assignments.

? Conduct engineering analysis for the IVP Program for any existing affected LP Assets, or new LP Assets.
? Develop calculation and report summaries that will be P.Eng stamped as it relates to IVP Program.
? Look for opportunities to streamline or improve IVP approach.
? Abilitiy to support other Process/ Hydraulic / Analytical work assignments within the team, when IVP Program commitments lessen.

? Internal Communications:
o Liaison with other departments on technical issues. Department interfaces include, but not limited to, Risk Group, Emergency Management, System Design, Control Centre Operations, Capacity Management, Infrastructure Planning, Regulatory Compliance, Development Engineering, Project Teams and Regional Operations.
o Provide updates to internal stakeholders on IVP Program.
o May be cases where this role inferfaces and manages third party consultants, where there is a need.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
? Completion of an Engineering Degree, with a preference in Process or Mechanical Discipline.
? Four (4) years or more of engineering experience in Pipeline, Oil & Gas, and/or Petrochemical.
? Registered P Eng with a professional engineering association: example APEGA as P Eng. Or close to receiving P Eng. Stamp approval.
? Proficient or willingness to quickly learn techniques in data management, data manipulation, statistical methods to analyze data to drive data-based decisions.
? Compentency in writing technical engineering summary reports that support calculations, requiring P.Eng Stamp.
? Exhibit analytical judgement to think in terms of systems and tactics for solving simple to more complex engineering problems.
? Willingness to take the lead to identify innovative solutions and manage changes accordingly.
? Ability to learn the Regulatory Compliance drivers that influence the requirements for the IVP Program.
Optional past experience in the following would be considered an asset:
? Data analytics
? Process and/or hydraulics
? Industry experience in pipeline operation, pipeline design, process safety or project engineering
? Participated in Risk Assessments such as: PHA, HAZOP, LOPA's, What-If or FMEA
? Knowledge in CSA Z662, ASME B 31.4, API 521 and pipeline regulations such as AER Pipeline Act, Onshore Pipeline Regulations-99, and DOT 195.
? Software such as: Power BI, OSISoft PI, SPS, AFT Fathom
? Coding such as: C++, SAS EG, R-Script, Python
