Job Summary

The Valves and Measurement Division of Cameron, a Schlumberger company, is looking for a self-motivated, energetic and innovative Mechanical R&D Engineer to develop, maintain, and support sampling and mixing products for the oil and gas industry.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with product management to define the feasibility, cost, functional design specifications, and maintenance requirements of new products or product enhancements.
  • Design and document mechanical products in accordance with design specifications and within a cross-functional stage gate process where applicable, ensuring compliance with departmental and quality processes.
  • Verify product performance in accordance with functional design specifications by designing test plans, testing or coordinating testing resources, and documenting test results.
  • Serve as the technical expert on mechanical projects.
  • Complete project manpower and cost estimates for projects. Coordinate with project managers to keep projects on time and on budget.
  • Work independently and in collaboration with other engineering team members to complete projects.
  • Research new technologies and apply new technologies to the design projects.
  • Maintain a constant awareness of competitive products.
  • Complete technical reviews of customer applications.
  • Transfer the product to sustaining engineering and production.
  • Facilitate the training of sales, support, and application engineers.
  • Obtain and maintain product certifications as required.

Minimum Job Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited university required. Professional Engineer desired.
  • Strong background in mechanical fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics.
  • Knowledge of ASME, API and ISO industry standards.
  • Knowledge of pressure containment standards and directives (PED – Pressure Equipment Directive, CRN – Canadian Registration Number, etc).
  • Knowledge of Mechanical ATEX Directive.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and related sealage.
  • Design file/ technical file creation and maintenance.
  • Calculations: corrosion allowances, pipe wall stress, etc.
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods, limitations and reporting.
  • Product verification: test plan creation and implementation.
  • Conceptual modeling.
  • Product specifications.
  • Understanding control system and instrumentation.
  • Innovation.
  • Knowledge of materials technology, welding processes, and general manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to develop production test requirements and test plans and coordinate test fixturing as necessary, including automated testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MathCad.
  • Competitive product review.
