Civil Structural Engineer

To lead or to assist in leading local and remote teams consisting of engineers and designers on multidiscipline projects, ensuring that all inter-disciplinary requirements are implemented and maintained at all times.

Management of change processes with both man-hours and capital cost related to the area of direct responsibility on a given project.

To assist in producing man hour estimates for professional services and manage the work load to the agreed budgets.

To monitor the project plan and progress measurement reports, within area of responsibility and to inform the Project Manager and Department Manager of any unacceptable trends.

To update man hour and progress measurement reports, in time to support monthly reports for Clients.

To produce weekly reports and schedule updates.

Ensure that the client interface is given high priority including client queries and concerns as necessary.

To ensure all client documentation is reviewed for acceptability and updated as agreed with the client and Project Manager/ lead CS engineer.

To refer all client requests for variations to the lead CS engineer or Project Manager where acting as lead on smaller projects.

To attend all necessary progress meetings and ensure either the lead engineer/Project Manager and Department Manager are fully aware of any problems affecting the productivity of the team.

To ensure timely completion of all project specifications, designs, drawings and other deliverables within area of own responsibility

Attend 3D Model reviews where required

To ensure all documentation within the scope of responsibility is checked, reviewed and approved in accordance with the Company SOP requirements for that project.

To ensure vendor/ contractor documentation, is reviewed for technical acceptability (when related specifically to CS discipline) or is considered for design impact (e g mechanical vendor documentation) where this is part of the area of responsibility

To give any necessary technical assistance (within limitations of own knowledge) to other members of the multi centred design team (design teams are commonly situated amongst several global locations.

To assume technical responsibility for production of deliverables to ensure the required safety and quality standards

For team members they are responsible for supervising, they are to ensure a level of supervision is maintained that encourages empowerment and provides a flexible, responsive approach to the design, procurement and construction of the plant.

Ability and willingness to mentor other team members both on the project and in the wider discipline.

Must be able to work in a multi-Discipline team and engage in collaborative behaviour that ensures the success of all Disciplines and the Project as a whole.


Essential:

Experience of working within medium- large scope projects within a multidiscipline environment

Experience of Petrochem and/or FMCG EPC/EPCm projects.

Commercial awareness within professional services environment.

Knowledge of UK and European standards and practices.

Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation including CDM

Desirable: Experience of leading a small scope project / team

Degree Qualified in a relevant engineering discipline.

Additional experience within industrial, commercial, healthcare, facility and manufacturing projects preferred.

Chartered Engineer

Experience of working within a multidiscipline 3D model environment

Working knowledge of structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro/ TEDDS.
