Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is an energy services company which is growing dynamically throughout the world. The global Data Protection Officer is building a strong, proactive and energetic Privacy team within the wider Ethics and Compliance team. We are currently recruiting for a Privacy & Compliance Counsel or Privacy Officer. The role holder will advise and support the DPO, team members and the wider business to achieve manage privacy risks and realise Wood's global data privacy and protection strategy and embed a strong well-understood privacy culture.

  • Research, engage and advise with business and third parties in relation to privacy questions and issues including contractual issues involving processors and controllers and complex individual rights requests
  • Support legal and privacy team in relation to privacy and information security matters in M&A and joint ventures
  • Draft, advise and negotiate privacy related provisions in client, supplier and other business contracts and advise on ad hoc issues
  • Conduct investigations into privacy incidents and lead implementation of lessons learned and support DPO in relation to complex data incident investigation and learning
  • Monitor new privacy developments in and outside of EEA and update DPO and key stakeholders
  • Review Data Protection Impact Assessments and progress actions to finalise document for DPO approval
  • Update and amend privacy precedents according to changes in law and company approach and learnings
  • Draft amendments to privacy related policies, procedures and governance documents
  • Conduct training on privacy and information security matters
  • Assist with preparation of presentations and other materials to senior leadership and other stakeholders
  • Assist with other team activities

Skills / Qualifications
  • Degree level with law qualification for Privacy Counsel position
  • Proficient with Word, Powerpoint and Excel
Knowledge Skills And Experience
  • Knowledge of all or some areas of data privacy law and practice especially the General Data Protection Regulation
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills
  • Strong writing and drafting skills
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in simple straightforward ways
  • Ability to persuade and influence
