We are currently seeking a personable, enthusiastic, and energetic Data Analyst to join our Research and Data Life Cycle Unit.

Main purpose of the role

You will be a Data Analyst within the Research and Data Life Cycle Unit of our Cost Management business. Our team owns the data life cycle from strategic to component level, and you will create value from the data we produce. Your role will be to develop advanced analytics solutions to apply to our proprietary data, help us make better business decisions and deliver industry leading insights.


Job Objectives
Key accountabilities
Liaising with and gathering data and information from both technical and non-technical stakeholders Undertaking analysis and communicating results to support and influence key decisions Supporting the development of new data-driven services, solutions and products Cleaning and processing raw data from disparate sources Development, analysis and maintenance of corporate datasets and reports Providing guidance and advice on data quality issues and standards to a variety of external and internal stakeholders Providing technical expertise, training and support to non-experts Establishing friendly and professional relationships with clients, colleagues and other parties involved in the projects and programmes we support Role requirements
Previous experience or a sound and suitable understanding of the following will be a distinct advantage in applying for this role:
    Broad knowledge of the construction industry (or related) and expertise in data analytics/data science discipline Ability to interpret complex analysis and communicate important insight with clarity to senior stakeholders Knowledge of common machine learning techniques including how and when to apply them Knowledge of a programming language or willingness to learn; Python and R are of particular interest Some experience with at least one relational or non-relational database technology Knowledge of visual analytics software or willingness to learn; Tableau and Microsoft Power BI are of particular interest


Skills Required

Desirable skills and experience
Understanding of data flows within construction to identify how it can be best structured to deliver meaningful analysis across business stakeholders Knowledge of business analysis and improvement techniques Ability and/or desire to learn new data analysis techniques, software tools and programme languages as required Qualifications
    Ideally Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant subject Ideally hold or be working towards an appropriate professional body membership or equivalent
