Wood is currently recruiting for a Hazardous Area Maintenance Technician with experience in the Oil, Gas and Chemical industry.

Purpose / Role

• To ensure that the performance and availability of electrical equipment meets the standards required to achieve safety, production and environmental targets.
Prime responsibilities and duties

• Carrying out planned maintenance in accordance with the requirements of the planned maintenance system.

• Isolation, removal, Disassembly, Overhaul, Reassembly, replacement, testing and commissioning activities on electrical systems.

• Maintaining the installations power supply and switchgear.

• Routine, Corrective, breakdown and condition based maintenance in accordance with the requirements of the planned maintenance
system/work pack/ Job card instructions.

• Isolating and de-isolating high voltage and medium voltage systems in accordance with their approval levels of electrical competency from client/site.

• Ensuring an adequate spares holding for electrical systems.

• Minimising downtime and contributing to the achievement of production targets

• Prepare technical reports as required

• Inspection and maintenance of electrical equipment in hazardous areas

• Undertake appropriate risk assessments (RA) in order to complete work scope in a safe and controlled manner.

• Request and take out applicable permit to work (PTW) to complete work scope in a safe and controlled manner.

• Provide support to other trades/disciplines where it is safe to do so, or form part of an integrated multi-discipline team.

• Fault finding and rectification for electrical systems

Qualifications
Essential

Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent training scheme
• HNC in Electrical Engineering (post 2009 apprenticeship)
• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 certification in Maintenance or equivalent
• COMPEX (Hazardous Areas)
• CCNSG safety passport
• IEE Current Edition (17th)

Desirable

• ISSOW
• HV switching
• MV switching
