As Mechanical Fitter you will produce mechanical assemblies with a strong focus on quality and achieving on time delivery. You will focus on Oil and Gas production equipment, bolting techniques and effectively interpret and understand technical drawings. Key to this role will be your ability to work in a multi-skilled environment and adapt to changing production priorities. As Mechanical Fitter you will be expected to independently determine priorities to ensure a safe and continuous workflow between disciplines ultimately achieving target dates and set quality standards as determined by contract specifications. To be a success in this role you will have existing knowledge and technical understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, bolting techniques or fitting from an agricultural and/or heavy plant environment.


  • Effectively report any H S E or productivity issu es through the correct channels
  • Work to achieve high quality in the assembly of component parts
  • Be p roficient in the use of hand tools, torqueing /tensioning equipment and machine tools
  • Work to weekly production schedule highlighting any key areas which may prevent achieving daily targets
  • Accurately measure and confirm that fit is within tolerance during manufacture
  • Interpret engineering & isometric drawings , sketches, materials and electronic images identifying the most efficient, cost effective solution without compromising quality or safety
  • Maintain material traceability throughout assembly
  • Follow recognised procedures for issuing and returning of fitting / assembly consumables and tools from stores
  • Notify the Assembly Lead of any mistakes, omissions or alterations necessary to drawings or bills of material - making recommendations to rectify any issues
  • Contribute to the development of systems and improvement in working practices and processes
  • Accurately complete all details on time sheets /Kronos electronic timekeeping - return them to the Assembly Lead on completion of a shift
  • Participate in resolving assembly and production issues
  • Complete regular preventive maintenance
  • Report malfunctions to m aintenance as needed
  • Maintain production area housekeeping 5S
  • Minimise waste by using/disposing of raw materials and consumable items efficiently
  • Conduct all material movements in accordance with the company's safe working practices
  • Be fully familiar and conversant with department and company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are in full compliance at all times
  • Support other departments and carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager

  • Time served Mechanical Fitter or relevant training

  • Bolt Torqueing and/or Tensioning certification

  • Working knowledge of fitting and assembly techniques in a similar industry

and / or

  • Working knowledge of hydraulic fitting or instrument tubing

  • Working knowledge of process and oilfield equipment
  • Working knowledge of assembly within heavy plant and/or agriculture
  • Working knowledge of flange management

Skills, training or special knowledge
  • Understanding of and ability to interpret and follow isometric and schematic drawings and assembly procedures
  • Understanding of materials and processes in which they are assembled
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic threads and hose crimping
