Job Role Summary

We are currently seeking an Experienced Gas Fundamentals Analyst to join our Europe Analytics team at our UK headquarters based in Leatherhead, Surrey.

Job Role Responsibilities

Working alongside the European gas trading team, the role is responsible for understanding and analysing European wholesale gas market fundamentals with a goal of capturing additional value & informing trading decisions. Responsibilities include supply/demand/pricing correlations & competitor intel/benchmarking.

The successful candidate will:

  • Work with front office quantitative analysts to evaluate trading and optimisation opportunities
  • Support and mentor other analysts within the team; play a key role in developing the team's analytics skills
  • Support the development & improvement of analytical tools:
    • Help with development and/or enhancement of analytical tools to improve insights from market fundamentals, assess economic value and optimise integrated trading strategy
    • Participate in interactions with internal & external developers and evaluate external tools/software for application to client's business
    • Help with implementation/transition of optimization tools and models to trading/operations/marketing teams

Expected Level of Proficiency

To be eligible for this role you should have:

  • Previous experience in the European wholesale gas industry with analytical exposure to a physical trading environment
  • A comprehensive understanding of European and ideally Global traded gas markets
  • Strong numeracy, analytical and modelling skills
  • Experience working with terminals, databases and analytical/visualisation tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; team player who proactively shares ideas, acting as an interface between analytical & trading teams
  • The ability to multi-task in fast paced work environment but maintain attention to detail
  • A self-starter attitude - able to perform tasks, make decisions and problem solve with minimum supervision
  • A creative approach to problem solving and strong cultural awareness; comfortable across multi-cultural teams
