Overview / Responsibilities
Wood are currently recruiting for a Privacy & Compliance Counsel to be part of the Privacy and wider Ethics and Compliance Team. Through legal research, drafting, negotiation and advice the roleholder will support the Data Protection Officer, team members and the wider business to achieve manage privacy risks and realise Wood's data privacy and protection strategy. As part of the Privacy Team you will be a part of a team working to achieve a global privacy culture where data privacy compliance is recognised and embedded.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research into privacy related matters
  • Support legal and privacy team with advice in relation to privacy and information security matters in M&A and joint ventures
  • Draft, advise and negotiate privacy related provisions in client, supplier and other business contracts and advise on ad hoc issues
  • Support completion of Individual Rights and Subject Access Requests including review of documents and advice on complex issues
  • Support DPO in relation to data incidents including incident analysis, investigations and writing reports and carry out data incident investigations and reports in relation to low level incidents
  • Assist with providing advice related to privacy and information security matters
  • Collate and monitor for new privacy developments in and outside of EEA and provide updates and guidance to DPO and key stakeholders
  • Review Data Protection Impact Assessments and progress actions to finalise document for DPO approval
  • Co-ordinate between stakeholders throughout the business to ensure consistent application of privacy standards
  • Update and amend privacy precedents according to changes in law and company approach and learnings
  • Draft privacy related policies, procedures and governance documents and complete reviews and amendments to privacy related policies and governance documents owned by other business functions
  • Conduct training on privacy and information security matters
  • Assist with preparation of presentations and other materials to senior leadership and other stakeholders
  • Assist with team activities as appropriate and required
  • Assist with achievement of Ethics and Compliance team objectives


Skills / Qualifications
Qualifications
  • Preferably educated to degree level especially although prior experience would be considered in lieu
  • Proficient with Word, Powerpoint and Excel

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in simple straightforward ways
