The Risk Control Analyst performs, market risk analytics, daily risk reporting, VaR modeling/analytics and correlation analysis for Crude, Products, Liquids, Natural Gas and/or LNG. Also, provide daily measures of performance and limit adherence, plus enforce a controlled trading environment. In addition, and as a secondary "nice to have", Credit Risk experience will also be useful as it would allow the Risk analyst to provide cover and assistance to the Credit function.
This position is co-located with Supply & Trading and operates under the direction of Corporate Treasury to provide commodity risk controls and related independent analysis to Supply & Trading.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Monitor trading activities to ensure compliance with established volumetric and financial authority limits.
Primary Tasks:
  • Daily analysis of the trading positions and VaR, on an aggregate portfolio basis down to the trading portfolio level.
  • Monitor trading activity daily against established Policy 190D trading authority limits.
  • Work with IT and RC regional teams on system and ad-hoc projects driving adoption of digital tools, global alignment and timely implementations.
  • Perform daily VaR analytics, correlation analysis, VaR back testing and curve clustering/benchmarking to ensure integrity and accuracy in the daily management reporting. Will also provide commentary to highlight the underlying drivers for the daily changes.
  • Understanding and experience in VaR modeling/analysis.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis of commodity price volatilities, correlations, absolute prices, VaR or other duties as assigned.
  • Act as steward for trading system data.
  • Location of this role is on a fast paced, open concept, trade floor.
Secondary Tasks (preferred if has experience):
  • Assistance within Credit:
    • Monitoring counterparty exposure against credit line
    • Managing payment risks and staying informed about related risk development
    • Margining
    • Collateral Management and Negotiation - Doc L/C, Standby L/C, Silent Guarantee, PCG etc.
    • Review and approval of invoices and other documents for secured transactions
    • Track receipt of payments
    • Presentation of documents for secured transactions
    • Review and provide credit in-put to underlying contracts and specialized agreements - EFET, NBP, ISDA, BFOE MNA etc.
    • Regular review, update of procedural manual and process improvements
    • Preparation and rendition of reports
    • Updating relevant systems
    • Manage ICE - Credit Settings
    • Manage and build relationship with other business units

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years Risk Control/Management or related commodity trading experience
  • Ability to apply this understanding in relation to Chevron internal policies.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets and provide insightful risk analysis that explains drivers in exposure, P&L and VaR to Supply & Trading organization.
  • Proficient with Excel formulas, pivot table functionality and trading database applications.
  • Ability to validate and relate exposure, P&L and VaR results to commodity market drivers.
  • Can work closely with IT on system and digital projects, troubleshooting issues and drive changes needed.
  • Can work closely with S&T trading and trade analyst to provide theory and logic of the risk values presented in the Daily Management Report.
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with team members, Supply & Trading personnel and management from all functions.
  • Provide clear, logical recommendations in a concise manner, to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to synthesize complex topics and present appropriate level of details for the audience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of credit experience also preferred. Experience of:
    • Interpreting financial statements
    • Collateral management and negotiation
    • Margining
    • Monitoring credit exposure
    • Secured transactions
  • Endur / Solarc Right Angle trade system / ECredit / EnergyCredit experience.
