We're on a journey to transform our customers' experiences at our retail and wholesale Petro-Canada sites and we're looking for a creative and dedicated solution design expert to provide guidance, direction and substantially impact the successful delivery of our Information Technology (IT) projects for our Downstream business. You will take pride in playing a key role in managing the delivery of application and systems designs and technical interface solutions for multiple complex projects.

You will use your expertise to:
  • Lead the design of application solutions and manage the technical integrations within the broader application ecosystem
  • Work closely with our Solution Designers and Software Developers to provide direction and recommendations regarding the build and design of applications, hardware, network products, and security requirements while using approved integration methods
  • Plan and lead the Technical Architecture analysis, design, and implementation of project application environments
  • Monitor actively solution designs for risks, issues, dependencies and collisions with other Downstream applications
  • Manage the technical integration across projects, acting as the liaison between project application teams and our infrastructure and database teams
  • Coordinate with Solution Architects and Application Solution Designer teams to ensure the infrastructure is in place and that it meets project needs
  • Collaborate with the infrastructure team to plan proper patching and maintenance of project environments
  • Work with our Enterprise and Solution Architects to define and improve the Technical Architecture vision and roadmap by working closely with our project and infrastructure teams
  • Reduce technical risk by upskilling our scrum/project teams through mentoring and providing technical guidance across elements such as database best practices, coding guidelines, and naming conventions

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
  • Seven years of overall work experience with five years of designing solutions for application integration and interfaces for large enterprises
  • Sound experience with programming languages such as a C variant (C, C++, C#), Microsoft .Net, HTML/CSS, Java, Angular, Bootstrap)
  • Experience with the design, development, and integration of databases (e.g. Oracle DB, Mongo, SQL)
  • A Computer Science degree or related technical college diploma, or a combination of relevant work experience and education
  • Knowledge of cloud based architecture solutions, web and mobile based applications, and interface/integration development tools
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of project methodologies (agile, iterative, waterfall)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills at both a technical and business level, and you can build positive relationships with highly dispersed and dynamic teams
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing
Preference for:
  • Involvement in retail transaction processing, sales, loyalty, promotions, and financial applications, ideally in the oil and gas industry
  • Technical knowledge of current application integration technologies (e.g. Web Methods, Mulesoft, MSMQ)
Where you'll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:
  • You will work out of our Oakville office, located at 3275 Rebecca Street, with occasional travel/work in our Mississauga office located at 2489 North Sheridan Way
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
