Key Responsibilities
  • Identify customer pain points in the well intervention market and identify possible digital solutions that could be developed by the R&D team to address those pain points
  • Provide Voice of the Customer and market feedback to the R&D, commercialization and product line teams
  • Actively monitor industry trends for both customers and competitors; perform market research for potential new digital product offerings
  • Direct the Corporate Technology Group and the AACD R&D group in bringing prototype products "across the line" and ready for full scale commercialization
  • Identify target customer lists for new digital products
  • Cultivate business relationships with targeted customers, align customer's analytics and digital strategy with direction of the AACD team
  • Develop value propositions for new digital products
  • Create revenue models for new digital products, provide revenue forecasts
  • Develop proactive and reactive strategies within existing and emerging digital markets, identify key relationships, trends, and priorities for those target markets, and recommend a point of entry and opportunities for new digital product development
  • Collaborate with NOV legal counsel to develop terms for new business agreements, negotiate and execute business agreements with customers
  • Present technical information for new digital products to diverse audiences
  • Obtain customer feedback and field results to create case histories that demonstrate the value of new digital products
  • Spend time in the field interacting with customers in their environment
  • Spearhead the development of marketing materials and strategies for sales campaigns
  • Provide after-sales follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction and to cultivate an on-going business relationship
  • Create industry excitement and represent the AACD at industry events
  • Coordinate across the various NOV well intervention product lines to ensure cooperation and a coordinated presence for digital products
  • Develop a sales kit for new digital products that can be used by other NOV sales personnel
  • Comply with all NOV Company HSE polices and procedures
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned
The business development manager works with customers, ISE product lines, and the AACD research & development team to identify customer pain points and develop specifications for new digital products that will address the identified pain points in an economically-viable manner. The business development manager will also be responsible for creation of the revenue model and commercialization plan for new digital products, as well as for product sales to the customer.


Desirable Qualifications
  • Demonstrated achievements in outside sales or leadership within a specific E&P technical discipline related to well intervention
  • Ability to present and explain technical information to diverse audiences
  • 5-10 years selling advanced automation products or software in the petroleum industry
  • High energy, self-starter with multi-tasking abilities, organized, detail-oriented
  • Good negotiating and conflict-resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Skilled with use of Microsoft Office software suite
  • College degree preferred or 5 + years of technical sales experience
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, sometimes on short notice
