A multi-faceted and varied job in which you give our customers the best service. As a Service Engineer you are responsible for the technical support of our Octopus shipping systems.

What will you be doing at ABB?
Working at our branch office in Dalfsen, for 80% of your full-time working week you will be responsible for the technical support of our Octopus systems. Together with our project engineer you form a close-knit team and connect with different departments within our organization, for example with Support, R&D and our Service Department in Rotterdam. For the remaining 20% of your full-time job. What does your full-time working week look like?

As a Service Engineer you work independently, service and solution-oriented, when you:
• put our Octopus systems into operation on board ships worldwide. You also provide the crew with the necessary clarifications and instructions on location.
• support our customers with in-depth Octopus support issues and related ABB equipment.
• technical preparation of projects. This means, among other things, that you test and configure our Octopus systems.

Your team
As described above, you work together with our Project Engineer. You are part of an international team that develops, puts into operation and maintains high-quality systems for the maritime sector. You will take projects from the Sales Department that you transfer to the Support Department after the completion of your work. You also regularly work with the Support Department on in-depth software issues and you interact with our developers and the Test Department. Interaction between colleagues is warm and open. We communicate directly with each other. We tell it like it is and if help is needed, we are there for each other.

Who are you?
You have a natural curiosity for everything that has to do with technology. And just as important: you know the ins and outs of the maritime world. You understand how ships work and what port and starboard is, we don't have to explain these to you. Add to that self-confidence, a dose of common sense and the talent to take initiatives. We dispense with a 9-to-5 mentality, it does not have its place in this job where you travel a lot. We know the voyage will be safe, if you also have:
• followed a technical MBO course of studies, for example, in Electrical Engineering and Maritime Technology.
• have 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience.
• are knowledgeable in serial communication, computer networks and ship systems. The latter could include, for example, navigation and engine room systems.
• are fluent speak in English, both orally and in writing.
• have a B class driving license.
