Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is looking for expressions of interest for a potential opportunity in London. The prospective role is for a Senior Electrical Engineer to
work within a multidisciplinary project team led by the WTG Package Manager responsible for the design, supply, transport, installation and commissioning of the WTGs for an offshore wind farm. The engineer shall provide electrical engineering support to the WTG Package during the contract negotiation with the preferred WTG Supplier so as to ensure that the WTGs are specified, designed, manufactured, tested, stored, transported, installed and commissioned according to project requirements.

The engineer shall also be required to provide electrical engineering support to the WTG Foundation Package during the tendering process for WTG Foundation Supply. This support shall include providing guidance and critical review to the basic and detailed design of the low voltage and electrical systems situated within the foundation, as performed by the employers foundation designer, as well as providing input to the employers Technical Employer's Requirements which support the tender process.

The engineer shall be sufficiently skilled and competent for the services requested on the below and provide the following services for ensuring all the project requirements:
  • Familiarise/understand the employers Technical Employer's Requirements (ER's) prepared as part of the WTG contract.
  • Review, assess and negotiate the WTG Supplier's proposals on the ER's to ensure the compliance of ER's within programme, budget and quality following industry's best practice and observing the maximum respect for health, safety and the environment to ensure regulatory and legal compliance.
  • Prepare any electrical related document required during the WTG contract negotiation process (technical report, work programme, Technical Schedule of the TSA, etc.).
  • Interface and provision of requested information related to electrical works to MVOW / other teams of the project/business
  • Review, assess and approve all electrical technical documentation prepared by the WTG Supplier as part of the early works to be developed by the WTG Supplier.
  • Participate in project meetings as necessary, in any location they may be held. Support the WTG Package on any electrical engineering topic discussed on internal meetings and with the WTG Supplier.
  • Manage the WTG electrical interfaces with the WTG Supplier and the rest project packages (OSS, inter-array cables, Foundations, Grid Compliance, etc.); with direct communication with other teams of the project.
  • Ensure the Foundations Electrical Design is aligned with the electrical design in the WTG
  • Provide electrical engineering support to the WTG Foundation Package during the tendering process for the WTG Foundation Supply, which includes:
- Update and review of the technical specification on low voltage and electrical equipment prepared for the Invitation to Tender documentation.

- Review and assessment of bids submitted by the bidders.
  • Review, assess and approve the WTG foundation electrical Basic and Detailed Design prepared by the WTG Foundation Designer.
  • Ensure corporate health, safety and environmental policies are adhered to in all matters.
  • Ensure appropriate lessons learnt regarding WTG contract negotiation process are captured and shared across the different offshore projects.
  • Prepare progress reports and minutes of meetings, as required.

The position would be based in London and would run till the end of Q3 2020.

Skills / Qualifications
Honours degree qualified in electrical engineering and/or significant industry experience.
  • Experience in electrical system engineering, preferably in offshore wind farm projects and related to offshore WTGs.
  • Sound knowledge on WTG electrical systems (generation system, WTG transformer, WTG switchgear, LV system, etc.).
  • Sound knowledge on the offshore WTG supplier market.
  • Sound knowledge on tender/procurement/negotiation processes for electrical equipment/systems.
  • Sound knowledge on industry codes, standards and applicable offshore regulations related to WTGs and electrical equipment and systems.
