Job Title: Principal / Consultant FE Specialist/Engineer

Job Description:
To lead the delivery of the Finite Element Analysis tasks and provide general FE support to other members of the team.

Reporting lines and interactions:
Reports to: Aberdeen Pipeline Team Leader
Directly supervises: Engineers on a project by project basis.

Key Responsibilities:
Delivery of FEA work scopes within the team.
Provide leadership within discipline in the delivery of subsea
Contribute to the development of team members.
Contribute to the technology development of the team.
Represent Genesis at meetings.
Contribute towards bids and tenders.
Undertake and check calculations.
Write and check project deliverables.
Perform all reasonable job tasks required by line manager.

Skills Required (Background, experience and qualifications):

Essential:
Minimum 10 years of experience undertaking Finite Element Analysis.
Minimum - first Degree or equivalent in relevant Engineering discipline and CEng (or working towards CEng). More mature jobholders may possess professional qualifications other than CEng etc.
Extensive working knowledge of industry recognized general FEA software (i.e. Abaqus, Ansys)
Experience of linear and non-linear FE models that utilize solid elements, shell elements and beam elements.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the basic principles of stress analysis.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of global and local subsea pipeline analysis.
Demonstrate a good understanding of the finite element method and limitations.
Ability to understand / interpret client requirements and translate it into a defined scope of work.
Experience with MathCad / Excel.
Understanding of the principles of fatigue.
Team player (working with others to enhance service delivery to our clients)
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent report writing skills.
Full command of the English language.
Good computer literacy with particular competence in MS office software.

Preferred:
Experience in the Oil & Gas Subsea Engineering industry.
Experience of Field Architecture & Greenfield Development concepts & methodologies
Pipeline stress analysis (e.g. Wall thickness, on bottom stability, UHB, Spanning, Expansion, tie in spool stress analysis, riser analysis)
Knowledge of hydrodynamic loading.
Experience at checking drawings.
Working knowledge of IT systems (FE specific hardware & license servers).
Excellent working knowledge of Abaqus FE software.
