Duties & Responsibilities

The specific responsibilities of the role include:
  • Provide 3rd line support of desktops and laptops for a Windows-based environment
  • Prioritise and oversee BAU tickets for Desktop Infrastructure Engineering team (Incidents, Service Requests) including escalations from other teams such as Software Packaging team.
  • Responsible for Monitoring, Configuration, Security (RBAC), Maintenance, Reporting Standards, Agent Health and Upgrades of SCCM infrastructure
  • Management of the Global Windows Image - Updating / Deployment / Patching / Remediation and Maintenance
  • Support OSD build enhancements - BIOS and Driver testing and updating driver packs, editing the front end (XML) for additional functionality in the build wizard
  • Software packaging to current standards, including MSI/EXE customisations, scripting, testing and documentation.
  • Group Policy implementation in alignment with Microsoft recommendations and internal security baselines
  • Act as Desktop Subject matter expert (SME) to support strategic initiatives and tactical deployments, including current W10 roll out and running of ongoing upgrades for W10/O365
  • Develop innovative solutions for improving the user experience, security, and management of desktops and laptops
  • Creating scripts where possible to automate and improve desktop support processes
  • Ensure adherence to architectural and ITIL standards

Skills & Competencies

We are looking for candidates with a combination of the below knowledge and technical experience:
  • Microsoft SCCM 2012 / Current Branch
  • Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Knowledge of encryption technologies, BitLocker, Endpoint Encryption etc.
  • Windows 10, Windows 7 Operating Systems
  • Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2016
  • Windows Updates / SCUP / WSUS
  • Advanced troubleshooting of the Windows desktop (Event Viewer analysis / PerfMon / WinDBG / SCCM log files)
  • Security Patch remediation
  • Device Control / AntiVirus Solutions
  • Microsoft Group Policy and Profile management
  • Windows hardware drivers and how they are integrated into a Desktop Build.
