This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Manufacturing Engineer to join a Global Engineering Company at one of its manufacturing bases located in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. National Oilwell Varco offers the world's most reliable and comprehensive range of drilling tools and equipment for today's complex drilling programs within the oil and gas industry. They are proud to be the only independent downhole tool provider able to supply and service the complete bottom hole assembly. Our primary objective is to design and manufacture products that deliver efficient and reliable drilling solutions to our customers. Reporting into the Manufacturing Engineering supervisor, you will support both current manufacturing activities as well as introduce new products. You will be involved in modelling, programming, shop floor routings as well as the responsibility for tooling and fixture requirements. Within this role you will look to develop and seek to improve the processes and assemblies and plan a smooth introduction into manufacturing.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Support and maintain legacy products already in manufacture.

* Review and support all stages of New Product Introduction.

* Liaise with all teams within Manufacturing, Quality, Production Control & Product Line Engineering.

* Improve and develop manufacturing processes.

* Generate manufacturing documentation, including Shop Floor Routings & Inspection Sheets.

* Understand and populate Bill of Materials and costs.

* Implement and maintain Procedures & Work Instructions

* Develop and introduce new Tooling, Fixtures and Gauges.

* Create CNC programs using CAM software (Delcam/FeatureCAM)

* Introduce Lean Manufacturing - analyse production processes and propose/implement improvements to reduce lead time, reduce cost, improve efficiency.

* Communicate with tool suppliers on technical issues

* Investigate and develop new manufacturing processes and equipment.

* Resolve technical issues within the Manufacturing Department.

* Undertake any other projects as directed by the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Engineering qualification; preferably time served apprenticeship.

HNC in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience:

Experience in General manufacturing.

Experience in Manual and CNC metal cutting machinery.

Good Understanding of layouts, machine drawings & tooling design.

Familiarity with controls such as ProtoTRAK, Siemens, Heidenhain and Fanuc.

Skills, training or special knowledge

PC literacy, including specific knowledge of Microsoft products.

Understanding of CAD and CAM packages.

Training in FeatureCAM, Powermill and Creo.

Experience in machine Simulation using VERICUT by CGTech

Experience in LEAN / Continuous Improvement.
