This is a critical role, within our Process & Flow Technology team, Manchester, where you will be responsible for implementing engineering concepts and studying the technical aspects of manufacturing. As Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for technical management, maintenance and development of new and existing production lines. You will successfully produce high quality products efficiently using the most cost-effective methods and with the aim of reducing the impact of production on the environment and optimisation of the organisation in areas such as materials, machinery, methodologies and processes. Your expertise will be vital to the continuous improvement of product quality through leaner concepts and activities. This will be a hands-on role where you will interact with the shop floor team as well as with engineering and manufacturing groups.   • Ensure all company policies surrounding health & safety, quality requirements and housekeeping are met
  • Fully accountable for achieving all relevant KPIs
  • Maintain the up-to-date visual management whiteboard
  • Enhance delivery performance and customer satisfaction
  • Create and take ownership of SOPs to ensure consistent standardized shop floor processes
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant: Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilising knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Generates product manufacturing routings and CNC programs.
  • Working with the manufacturing department and help them understand the technical concepts that should be looked after during the manufacturing process of the products
  • Working closely with the quality assurance team to make sure that the product is meeting the quality constraints as well
  • Documenting the detailed product specifications marinating them for future reference and help during any kind of up-gradations made in the products
  • Analyses and plans work force utilisation, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Carry out other duties as and when business requirements dictate as may be reasonably expected by line manager

  • ONC / HNC in a relevant engineering/manufacturing qualification or equivalent
  • HND / Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering related subject

  • Working knowledge within an engineering and/ or production environment
  • Working knowledge of business KPIs

Skills, training or special knowledge
  • Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • ERP Systems
  • Manufacturing methods including Lean + CNC programming (Mazak, Fanuc, ISO)
