As a Mechanical Development Engineer, you will utilise your technical knowledge and professional experience to contribute to the delivery of technical support and product sustainment for the NOV Coring product line. Acting under the guidance of the Coring Lead Engineer, the role requires excellent organisational skills and an understanding of potential downhole tool issues and solutions. An appreciation of the commercial implications of engineering decision making, attention to detail, the ability to work effectively with other team members, a keen focus on delivery and the ability to turn fast-paced, business-driven requirements into profitable solutions are all critical to success in this role. To perform effectively, excellent working relationships will need to be built and maintained with global commercial and manufacturing teams. You will be required to provide deliverables for the purpose of evaluating design alternatives, cost estimation and establishing manufacturing routes whilst acting as a focal point for technical matters on Coring projects and products.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Development and extension of product line designs and procedures.
• Coordinating design and development programmes in accordance with NOV design control procedures
• Tool design and/or Product Line Engineering (PLE) development activities including initial design drawings, calculations, material selection and specification.
• Provide Engineering Support for Operations and Procurement/ Supply Chain.
• Checking of drawings and calculations within the Engineering Team.
• Organise and actively participate in regular design reviews.
• Coordinating the prototype manufacture of new design components, including liaising with NOV manufacturing and 3rd party suppliers
• Development of workshop and field tool test plans, supervising test programmes and compiling test reports and conclusions.
• Estimation, monitoring and controlling of development or PLE project costs
• Supervising and coordinating the competent servicing of development tools and mechanisms
• Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

• HND Mechanical Engineering

• BSc/BEng Mechanical Engineering

Experience:

• Working knowledge within a design/support role

• Working knowledge of a design/support role in downhole tool environment

Skills, training or special knowledge

• Working knowledge of practical mechanical awareness

• MS Office

• Coring design and field experience

• SolidWorks, EPDM, TCE system experience

• FEA, CFD, MathCAD
