CH2M are looking for a Senior Flood Risk Management Consultant/ Specialist to join a successful and established consultancy team in Glasgow.

You will be working on a diverse range of flood management projects around Scotland primarily for local authority clients and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.

The successful candidate will integrate with our highly successful and well respected team working on major projects including Hawick and Grangemouth Flood Protection Schemes, feasibility and optioneering studies for fluvial and coastal protection schemes as well as surface water management plans.

You key Responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Undertaking feasibility / option appraisal studies relating to flood protection schemes and natural flood management projects.
  • Supporting delivery of flood protection schemes.
  • Supporting delivery of surface water management studies.
  • Coordination of multi-disciplinary design and planning teams.
  • Proactive management of relationships with clients, government agencies, local authorities and suppliers.
  • Supporting business development and internal cross-sector relationships.
  • Assisting in the development of graduates and junior staff.
  • Reporting directly to the Project Manager.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in environmental/earth sciences or civil engineering;
  • Chartered or working towards chartered status with an appropriate institution; 
  • Experience of flood risk management techniques and methods including option appraisal;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to manage and deliver projects to time and budget;
  • Proven track record delivering flood protection schemes;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009 and associated regulations;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Water Environment (Controlled Activities) (Scotland) Regulations 2011.
