Summary

Under supervision, develops and developers assigned in-house training curriculum. Drafts training plans detailing learning objectives, course content, delivery methods, and timelines with oversight of senior trainer. Has general refinery knowledge but no direct experience in operations and maintenance technical or skilled positions.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies, assesses and prioritizes learning needs in consultation with refinery management. Drafts training plans detailing learning objectives, course content, delivery methods, and timelines with oversight of senior trainer.
  • Administers learning management system (LMS) for site. Trains end-users and troubleshoots issues.
  • Under general supervision develops and produces learning materials ensuring content is current and consistent with established standards, processes, protocols and procedures. Works with subject matter experts to develop and maintain manuals, procedures and job aids for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Delivers training on courses less technical in nature than those for fully qualified technical trainer. Coordinates employees' transition from classroom to department. Conducts post-training evaluations and follows up to ensure transfer of learning. May coordinate training logistics, such as scheduling, site preparation. Maintains employee training records. Makes recommendations to improve effectiveness in meeting stated outcomes.
  • Compiles and produces training metrics. Publishes dashboards/reports used by site management to evaluate effectiveness of training programs and compliance to regulatory training requirements.


Requirements

EDUCATION:
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 5 years' refinery experience required.
  • Knowledge of managing LMS systems.
  • Experience facilitating classroom learning delivery and coordinating annual Learning Strategy.
  • Prior Environmental, Health & Safety field experience welcomed.
  • Trainer L&D certification preferred.
